Manly Attack 2016 To 2017

The team deserves special mention for a huge improved attack in 2017.

Most Tries/ Much improved line breaks/ Cohesive attack...

What do you think the factors are?

Things I have noticed include
*3 at the back creating Huge momentum to start sets.
*Forwards running harder and punching out metres after contact and fight to win the play the ball contest with great success.
*Pushing up in support in numbers, to ensure the runner is not bashed by 3-4 defenders.
*Green has straightened up the attack - far more direct...thing is playing sideways, most chances get shut down as the defence is already sliding as a mirror to the attack.
*The right edge is blowing teams away - Walker back to his best ever form.
*Improved kick/Chase leading to great field position.

I would say all of your listed points there Maxta, plus just better team stability and confidence level and attacking structure in general.

Many good points.

Having a 2nd playmaker is a huge difference. Last year teams were rushing DCE knowing there was no plan B, this year they cannot do this and therefore we have more time.

Walker playing centre where he is one of the best is a decent upgrade on Brown/Williame

Frankenstein has improved a lot, especially in reading a game after more time back from touch, I mean rugby union.

Turbo on 2 legs not 100% fit on 1 leg

2016 was a lost year from the start due to the lack of a 5/8 and no mongrel pack 😎

Snake's bizarre plays are still a mystery 😕

Trying to force a non-passing centre into a 5/8 was truly misguided :tmi:

2017 has all spots filled by specialists.
Walks has learnt the joy of setting up Uate :inlove:

I think Walker's passing is seriously underrated, Alex Johnston was highest try scorer in Souths premiership year with Walker inside him. He's also gone to **** now that Walker isn't there.

It's our forwards.
It's like teams need good forwards to allow halves to control a game, and the backs to win a game.
Secondly don't underestimate the affect team unity has.

Our forwards are getting over the advantage line which in turn sets up dce to feed our electric backs , walker, tommy and uate etc . With that our edge runners are feeding off it .

Forward pack are improving every week. DCE performing well with Green . Uate, Tafua and TT at the back have been awesome. But I'm especially impressed by Walker and Kelly. When we lost Matai and Lyon, we lost one of the best centre partnerships in Manly history. Walker and Kelly look like they may develop into an equally devastating pair.

What's most pleasing is that there has been a reversal in form in both defence and attack, if you consider average points earned and conceded per game.

2016:
Points For: 18.92
Points Against: 23.46
2017:
Points For: 23.42
Points Against: 18.58

Kelly yeah i don't know about him, seems poor defensively
