Lyons a Super choice

LEGENDARY centres Mal Meninga and Steve Renouf have urged the Australian Rugby League to select Jamie Lyon from the English Super League for this year's Tri-Nations tour.
Meninga, captain of the 1990 and '94 Kangaroos, rates Lyon the best centre in the game and says his deeds in England for St Helens should not be devalued because the competition lacks the intensity of the NRL.
Renouf has a soft spot for Broncos star Shaun Berrigan and injured Bulldogs centre Willie Tonga, but said he would not have any problems with Lyon.
No Australian player has been chosen from English football for a Test match or Kangaroo tour with the exception of Darren Smith who was recruited by Australian coach Chris Anderson from St Helens on the 2003 Kangaroo tour to fill an interchange role in the third Test.
Meninga said Mark Gasnier's form made him a short priced favourite for one Tri-Nations centre spot.
