Lussick a potential casualty in Manly civil war

7th Tackle: Lussick a potential casualty of Manly's civil war

Before a run of injury intervened late last season, Darcy Lussick had risen to become Manly’s form prop.

Now he’s back fit and mysteriously on the outer.

We can reveal his agent this week contacted Newcastle to gauge its willingness to sign the 27-year-old, who has another year to run on his deal at Brookvale.

Returning from an elbow complaint this week, Lussick has also been named in reserve grade with Blacktown Workers alongside his younger brother Joey. So what’s gone wrong?

Like a lot of issues at Manly, it appears to relate to the club’s deep network of internal divides.

Lussick’s father Jason has been a long-time friend of football boss Bob Fulton and was appointed to NRL duties this season.

However, Jason Lussick also shares a close relationship with recently departed Sea Eagles CEO Tim Cleary.

When Cleary took Fulton on, Jason Lussick became collateral damage and didn’t travel with the team to Brisbane last weekend.

Now Cleary has resigned, with Lussick and his son feeling exposed. The Fultons certainly weren’t commiserating with Cleary.

Shortly after his departure last Friday, Fulton’s daughter Kristie – who was sacked by Cleary two months ago – changed her Facebook profile.

It read: “Underestimate me. That’ll be fun. Karma’s a bitch”.

Whether or not Kristie returns to work at Manly will now be a decision for executive chairman Scott Penn.

Sheesh, crap like that should just melt off the web page when trying to read them.

I don't believe a word of it.

Just the usual "Manly is going ok....so now lets stick the rumour mill in full effect."

I have no doubt when he is fit and or considered match fit, he'll be back in first grade.

If he's not picked, maybe they want to give his elbow another couple of weeks and look at the titans as a team that the other props can take care of.

The amount of times wanker journos mention fathers when it comes to footballers, you'd think they are all a group of useless sooks.

Anyway, I think it's the usual anti manly drivel.

Seems Kristie is as classy as Foz's missus. Karma's a bitch, indeed.

Bozo is a legend and my football hero, he has done so much for this club as a player a coach and an administrator, but an organisation which has within it's administrative fabric a hierarchy infiltrated by members of the same family is a recipe for problems. It brings to mind a line from many classic western movies "We run this town." Cleary's sudden dismissal of KF is difficult to understand when the CEO must have been aware of the ramifications of unfair dismissal and appropriate protocol that had to be followed. There must be more to it and I'd love to know what was actually said. The timing of the Facebook post referred to above suggests it wasn't neighborly. Clearly's resignation indicates he could no longer work within the organisation with it's current structure. Looking like Pen has lost control of his town. I expect Lussick is just under done and they want him to get some match fitness. If it ever got to the point that the player selections were being directly affected by club politics then we are lost and being run like a amateur junior football club.

surely way too early to read into this one , but if fully match fit , darcy would have to be surely included in manly's top 17, and forward rotation , and of coarse at the expense of brown , and i have rarely seen such a formidable club prop grouping with marty , B J , afb, darcy , myles and perret currently on our books and of coarse also with the talented hastings and gutsy api combination , and to again take into account that there has still been steve matai 's and snake's cap money not available this season . and also greetings to fellow local sea eagles supporter- the 47's of sarina , costal queensland as this has always been my local location

Wasn't Darcy named in the squad for this week ?? I expect he'll play 1st grade if fit, hopefully at the expense of Brown.

As far as all the other carry on - there has to be a reality TV show in this. Maybe "Survivor Manly" - Generic Employee bring me your torch - the Fultons have spoken time to leave Narrabeen.

If Lussick plays well enough he'll be back in the team. Yes he improved a lot last year BUT he's hardly made himself "undroppable" with his level of performance over the years ( as a general rule ). And given Marty is just about the best Prop going around and AFB is on the UP massively (In my opinion anyway) - it's not totally unreasonable that after missing a big chunk of footy that Darcy isn't straight back into the team ahead of Lawrence etc.

Play some reserve grade, get some fitness and see where we're at.

To me his dropping ( if you want to call it that ) is a non story.

As for the continued Fulton dramas...what do you honestly expect if history is your guide.

Welcome to the circus here, @manly al. Not a bad bunch here, fantastic for club footy, but they get a bit weird come Origin though. Hope you're not getting washed away again with this latest weather.

Go the Mighty Crocodiles
(are the still mighty? lol)
