Lottoland court win just the ticket for Manly sponsorship

Online gambling outfit Lottoland has extended its sponsorship of the Manly Sea Eagles for another year in a deal worth close to $500,000 dollars.

Lottoland's three-year $1 million sponsorship of the club, which includes naming rights for Brookvale Oval, was to expire at the end of this season and looked on shaky ground as Lottoland came under sustained attack from competitors and government regulators.

But Lottoland Australia chief executive Luke Brill said the group exercised its option to extend the contract for another year over the weekend following a favourable decision in the NSW Supreme Court late on Friday that gave the Gibraltar-based company certainty about its future in Australia.

The sponsorship deal, to be announced on Monday, has been expanded to also include Manly coach Des Hasler and branding of his coaching box.

"This just underlines our commitment to remaining in Australia," Brill said. "With the ruling going our way, we have some certainty, and this sponsorship with Manly shows we're putting our money where our mouth is."

On Friday, Justice John Sackar overturned a ruling by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) that Lottoland's products, which function like traditional lotteries but select the winning numbers based on the outcome of financial market indices, were illegal.

Lottoland introduced those products at the start of the year after the federal government outlawed another suit of it products that let punters bet on the outcome of traditional lotteries.

The company has faced a barrage of criticism and attacks from the Tabcorp-owned Tatts, and newsagents, which say Lottoland's "fake" lottery service was eroding the tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue that licensed lotteries generate.

I noticed Des had a small Lottoland badge on during the after match press conference, I’m happy with that as long as he isn’t required to wear a green suit.

But $500,000 a season for jersey and ground naming rights seems cheap.

Agreed
The Manly Sea Eagles Brand as a major sponsor is worth at least 1m per season.

It’s only worth what some company is prepared to pay. We’ve never had a ground sponsor prior to Lottoland so perhaps in the future it will ratch up if we can get multiple companies interested.
I assume URM as our major jersey sponsor would be paying around the $1m mark per year. Anyone know?

Disgraceful sponsorship from a company being pursued by regulators and will end up banned from trading in Australia. Just brings our brand into disrepute. Surely we can do better than this.

It’s better than the original three year $1 million deal. Further proof that the club’s fortunes are on the rise. You would think that once the CoE, new playing surface etc. go in, they could name a higher price.

The LC is also trading well.

Its only for naming rights and signage at the ground though, is it not?

The front of jersey sponsors are URM.

The others on there are Shaw & Partners, Trip A Deal and Zantac.

I am not aware of Lottoland appearing anywhere on the jersey???

Good to hear about the leagues club but is there any future for it?
Hope there's something...
