Look What I Found - Silvertails Petition for Brookvale Oval - SHOW ME THE MONEEEEEY !

Ryan

Journey Man
Going through photo's last night (you guys won't believe this, but after everything else, my mother-in-law passed away from cancer Thursday !), and I came across these photo's. This petition was organised by Jas and myself (in conjunction with some other Silvertarians - mainly Wheel & others), where we attained 10,000 signatures (even non Manly fans), I got it professionally bound, and we submitted it to the club (They are my flanny PJ's under the petition).

Grant Mayer, David Gallop and Graeme Annersley then went to Morris Iemma, and we attained 6M in Government (4M Council) funding at the time (many years ago), but it seems that this funding never amounted to anything? This was back in 2008 FFS

Wonder the following:
X Where did that money GO?
X Does the club still have this petition (I would love to see some photo's actually of the inside for keeps sake) - could Gorman, Cousins or someone confirm?

Also attached was a jersey Mark Bryant and Matty Ballin organized for me. Yes, it's crumpled because my wife says "football jersey's don't look good on people" and taking advantage of my lack of height, puts them in a cupboard outside of my reach and sight (Dan can attest to that !!), and I forget about them. Can anyone decipher the signatures???

Yup I still have the match pass they gave us for the game where we took most signatures.

Those were early days and I worked the brookie hotel gate with wheel I think trying to get he signatures and we worked hard to get them.

Silvertails has been much maligned over the years as not being positive etc. however when you look closely all of us have put our blood sweat, tears and many games into trying to see the cause bettered.

As much as many of you often out **** on Ryan and he dishes out as much as he gets, he has really tried on many occasions.

He put his professional reputation on the line at one stage for a sponsorship that almost got off the ground

Those were great days and I look back at them fondly we used to have a core group on the hill every week when they used to count the seagulls it was so much fun and I hope to see younger groups doing the same nkw

Thanks mate - she was a top lady. Never had a bad word to say about anyone or anything. A big F U to cancer - worst disease in history !
We’ve spoken off line mate you’re suffering a terrible 3 years but things will look up. I’ll be back in a little over a week, leanne and I can look after the kids for you and your Mrs to have some time off.

I might beat you at some golden tee on my old arcade machine if you’ve taken good enough care of it all these years 😉

Maybe ask those questions either privately or publicly at the forum on Wednesday if you're going.

Sorry about your loss @Ryan - your family's sure had a sad year.

Sorry to hear about your mother in law Ryan. Man, you've had a tough few years to get through but I'm sure the light at the end of the tunnel is not a freight train heading your way. Head up and make Dan look after your kids ...3-4 times per week.

Also, well done on that petition...truly a great effort by all involved.

Finally, there are step ladders now.... they're like steroids for shorties!

I know - my brother-in-law brought me one last Christmas, and he thought it was the funniest thing in the world !

Sorry to hear @Ryan - hope the family are ok.

From memory we got well over 10k signatures- it was presented to the state government- Maurice Iemma was premier and gave either $4m or maybe $6m (WSC also threw some money in to make $10m) which was used to extend the Jane Try stand and renovate the dressing rooms etc - the rest went on some Gardening done by WSC

Mate, you and Danners did a ****load of work on it. Pretty sure you even gave pages out to local clubs/shops and things. Goes to show what passionate people power can do, hey.

Ryan mate words pail into the abyss in times like this.
Condolences to your extended family.

Ryan, have lost my Father, my mother, my step father, my FIL to terminal cancer in last 8 years, and the MIL had breast cancer, suffering poorly from dementia now, on top of my own problems. I as the oldest Male in our family have to console, add care to the remaining large family. If you need to vent, need assistance- message me my friend -I'm here. Football is football, life is life!

My condolences Ryan.
We lost my mother in law to cancer just over 12 months ago.
Like yours, she was a great lady. Never had a negative word to say.
It's an asshole of a disease.
Thinking of you.

My condolences to you, your wife and her entire family and I agree totally with you with your views on cancer. It will be 3 years on the 14th of next month that I lost my mother to that bastard disease. It took just 73 days from when she was diagnosed until she was gone.
