Look out Tom. Here comes Albert

Bearfax

Grizzly old fart
This Albert Hopoate is killing it apparently in the Matthews Cup having scored 12 tries so far, yet I think he's only played 6 games. Scored another 3 tries against the Roosters in an 11 try rout of a team in the middle of the comp. Only Newcastle is outperforming this side and it seems when Albert plays at full back, Manly wins. In a couple of years Tom T. may have a challenger for his position. The finals begin next weekend and Manly are up against the Roosters again. The SG Ball side after a good start faltered and just missed out on the finals finishing ninth.

Cc roosters next week not sydney roosters

Oh lord Tom plays one bad game instantly under threat from everyone! Does it crops your mind that Tom is 20 and will only improve!

Turbo, my suggestion had absolutely nothing to do with how Tom played yesterday and it also was not intended to besmirch Tom in any way. It was indicating that Albert is apparently playing great football and 'may' in a couple of years be up there challenging for the position. If it comes to that he'll probably play wing or centre, but its not to do with Tom, it is to do with Albert. You're being just a little overly sensitive there young Turbo

I'm not sure how anyone would think that you wanted to throw a 15 year old straight into the NRL.

Fluffy, you're as bad as Turbo. You dont read what is written. I said in a COUPLE OF YEARS. In other words what I am saying is that when he reaches 18-19 years he MAY be a challenge to Tom T. Of course its a provisional statement, that he continues to develop in the manner he is at present. Now is anyone out there going to discuss the matter in context? Sheeesh!

I was saying I didn't think you meant he was ready right now nor anyone.

Guess Turbo did prove me wrong

Am wondering where albert would play, he looks like either a fullback or centre. I dont reckon he should play on the wing during his career, too much talent to be stuck on the wing.

Perhaps I misinterpreted Fluffy. But then I've got an excuse as a 66 year old. If I did my apologies. But the kid looks as if he is going to be something special and it was suggested years ago that he was destined to be the best of the Hopoate clan. Hope it comes to pass and he stays at Manly.

He would be a handy replacement for Uate who I think he should play for a further 3 years or more.

Future Manly side -

1. Tom Trbojevic
2. Jorge Taufua (Beast but needs to learn to catch a high ball)
3. Dylan Walker
4. Brian Kelly
5. Albert Hopoate
6. Jackson Hastings
7. Daly Cherry Evans
8. Darcy Lussick
9. Api Koroisau
10. Marty Taupau
11. Ben Trbojevic
12. Curtis Sironen
13. Jake Trbojevic

14. Jamil Hopoate (Utility)
15. Taniela Paseka
16. Addin Fonua-Blake
17. Billy Bainbridge/Shaun Lane
