But 10 years is a loooooooooooong time so maybe something further could be done.

Right of last say to match contracts? - well that wont help against rich overseas clubs I guess.

But something for 10 bruising years would be good.

However, maybe they wont be so bruising in the future with no shoulder charges.
 
I think a certain percentage of a player's salary should not count towards the cap if they have been there for 10 years or more. Maybe you could even introduce a sliding scale of percentages from 7 or 8 years until 10+.

That would reward the clubman style player and not just the superstars. As it is, the $200K is effectively just an addition to the overall cap.
