Lodge, you Monster

The following sets out the key indicators whether a charge is to be considered:

  1. Grip – the defending player has a grip on the attacking player (one hand or two)
  2. Rotate – the defending player uses that grip and swings or rotates their body to a position behind or to the side of the ball carrier
  3. Drop – the defending player then drops their body weight directly onto the attacking player's legs (as opposed to their body weight landing on the ground first to absorb most of the impact)

Tackler got called for a hip drop the other night and one of the tacklers legs went BETWEEN the attackers legs… who the f*ck knows what a hip drop is? The NRL don’t, the ref doesn’t, the bunker has no idea so how the f*ck would you and I know?

Seems if your weight goes onto the players leg and (this is the important bit) the player gets hurt then it is deemed a hip drop… I was amazed we were not penalised for Lodge incident…

Wayne Bennett voices his frustration as Manly avoid penalty for tackle that has ruled Brandon Smith out for two months

Wayne's an old whinger and would probably be best served in the retirement village or shaking his fist at young people in his garden as they ride by on their electric vehicles shouting in my day we used to power those ourselves, or coaching the Gold Coast where he'd still be a step up from Dessie. Alternatively he could probably also play a mutant dinosaur in the next Jurassic movie if that franchise can survive its latest installmement.

Amen

Thank heavens for small mercies, we are already down 4 forwards, losing Lodge would of been the last straw.
Who'd have thought we'd be saying that at the beginning of the year??!!

Edit - yeah, that's a terrible sentence but you know what I mean 😂

Manly forward Matt Lodge will be free to play for the Sea Eagles’ against Melbourne in a fortnight after being cleared over the tackle that sidelined South Sydney hooker Brandon Smith.
Smith, making his return from a serious knee injury, is facing up to eight weeks on the sidelines after damaging his medial ligament in the second half of the Rabbitohs’ loss to Manly at 4 Pines Park.
