Lodge, you Monster

We offered Lodge 150k a season. Definitely a big come down from what he used to get. He rolled the dice on getting a better deal, now he's on about $1,000 a week T&T at Saints, and driving back and forth to Kogarah. Should of took what we were offering.
Not the first bad choice in this guy's life. This is karma playing out (and I do believe in second chances in life but not for what he did).

Good guys don't always lose......compare the pair.........Jake on 950K at a Top 4 club, Lodge on T&T $1K a week at a middle to bottom club

You don't get let go by 5 clubs if you have the right mojo and a good manager.

He gambled and lost....unlucky for him.

Flanno will get some level of value out of him.

And nothing surer he will have some sort of okay game say round 11 this year and people in here will blow up that we 'let him go'
Lodge we know can still give a good 25- 30 minutes a game. So to your point there will definitely be moments where some silvertails blow up for sure.

For me the final straw was when he got obliterated by the roosters in our last game of 2024. Sure, he wasn't alone in the Manly pack that evening, but it was time to move on from him.

We only blow up when we lose feathered friend
Losing in Not The Manly Way
and Manly people are not good losers

It's a shame for both him and us because he would have been worth having in the squad on a minimum contract. He is much better prop depth than most of our other options.

Yep. I’ve posted my thoughts on this game on a few occasions over the last few months. It was embarrassing. He talked it up during the week and put a target on his head and when he failed miserably, the opposition and their supporters absolutely revelled in it. That night I went home from the game hoping to God that he’d be cut loose by the club.

I hope we get the luxury of keeping him as a cheap option in the squad after all.
I still rate him and think he could complement our depth.
Manly seems due this year for another breakout forward, so hopefully we don't need him but he could get a run..

If no one else wants him why would we take him back?
Surely if we took him back he would just take up the spot of an up and coming younger player with potential !

Just sayin’

I would only take him back on a NSW cup/development contract that’s outside of the top 30. Wouldn’t cost us much and adds some experience and depth. When injuries strike he will be very useful to bring straight in.

In hindsight I bet he wished he took the 2 year contract we offered him earlier. Now no one wants him and might have to go to Super League.

He had a deal lined up at Souths. It fell through. It happens.

Still think he was our best prop. In the really limited games he played. That's the issue. His body is letting his ability down.

Now if he is will to take a NSW cup contract is the another question.

He clearly is of a view he has a lot to offer.

But U would think NSW is where he finds himself if he stays in Oz.

If he was to play for his local, I have no doubts Seibs will throw him in the top squad as soon as June 30 comes around.

I'm not sure he would have that certainty any where else in Oz.

He's got a young family all settled on the Northern Beaches. That's a big move to uproot a young family and move to Eng. May have to get a regular job now, like most people do.

He doesn't move the needle IMO so there is no point taking him back, even on a train and trial.

And i wouldn't give him a youngster's spot in the top30 as another poster mentioned.
