I wish we could afford both Lodge and RCG. I expect RCG is out of our price range. Lodge is 29 and still has a few good seasons left in him depending on injuries. He's our second best prop and needs to be signed. I cannot under the Aloio extension it has got me beat.
Yeah Aloiai has played 2-3 decent games all year. The rest have seen him dominated. I think we need Lodge and RCG to be a contender next year.

There’s lot of talk about needing an edge back rower but the way I see it, we struggle out of yardage. Quality middles help with that more so than edge forwards, that typically provide an attacking threat. We are not in need of attacking reinforcements.

I’m not suggesting a great edge forward would hurt, but I think it pales in comparison to our need for a stronger middle rotation.

If we could have Paseka, RCG, Lodge and Bullemor in the middle rotation next year, we’d be dynamite. It seems every other club can find a way to squeeze another top shelf recruit into their 30…get it done Manly.

I know it’s a touchy subject, but as a Manly fan would you support a push for Jake T to take a pay cut in line with players like Yeo,Carrigan if it meant being able to afford an addition like RCG?

Agree, but, only if the NRL will allow it.

Read Lodge loves it at Manly, doesn't know if he will be at Manly next year, has 4 kids to look after, Manager enquiring in Super league, should be a good contest with the Roosters forward pack a good performance will help his career

Yes but it sounds like the NRL don’t allow that sort of thing. I’m hoping the Schuster deal is the money we’ve got hanging around.

Buzz says Lodgey is on $230 a year and sitting down talking to the Eagles about extending.
Manly have offered a one year deal
He wants two (if he plays well this week might get that extra year)
Let’s go Manly 🦅
Hope so, I love what he brings on the field. Do yourself a favour and listen to his podcast with James Graham if you haven’t already. Jake was a huge part of bringing him to the club having grown up playing in junior rep sides together. I hope he stays and has an injury free run.

Was looking forward for his contract ending giving us $600k to play with. The only reason I can think we resigned him was that it was a cut priced deal. From memory it was a 3 year extension which indicates a low value offer from the club but peace of mind and security for Aloiai.
If it was is $450k per year, not a bad deal for the club. But $600k again is too much.

Interesting terminology there from Lodge.
Thought he'd stay at the Broncs but "business things" prevented that.
He was inch away from a three year deal at the Chooks but just a "business transaction" ended that.
So wonder what these business things were?
Especially to end both tenures abruptly.

If I was Mestrov I'd pull him in and say - we need a big dog to compliment Tent and if you can go out on Saturday night and dominate that Roosters pack and we win we'll give you a 2 year deal.

The he goes out and flattens JBH (legally) we score 3 tries to nil and win the match. We then hear he's signed on the dotted line.

And then I wake up. @:)

Bottom line is, if either team wanted Lodge, they would have kept him.
A lot more to the business transaction he is talking about.

That said, hope he kills them vs the rorters.

I can understand us being a little gun shy worrying about long term injuries in view of Turbo's bad luck over the years. BUT every signing comes with he risk of long term injury and sometimes players recover from a couple pf long term injuries and play well after that. Gutho is a good example. Balancing the cap without heavy third pastry backing is tricky. It is ironic really that Greenburg and the then NRL persecuted Fulton and Manly for third party deals in light of what happens at all of the other power clubs including Canterbury Bankstown..

That's kind of what l was getting at.
His previous three contracts have ended abruptly so has he thrown his toys out of the cot and/or the clubs when it's come to contract time?

Is it just all about the $$?
Yes, I know they are professionals but...surely there comes a time when you look at your history and go "yeah, I understand why they don't want to commit to a longer term", yeah?

If he has faith in his own ability, sign a one year deal with Manly and an option of a 2nd year - at the discretion of Manly.
If he does a great job next year, Manly would exercise the option for 2026.
