Would rather lodge for say 4-500
Than RCG. For 775 000
Thing is though, it seems Lodge doesn't want to back himself on another short term deal and that's the sticking point.
He's not exactly in the position of power in that regard.
Return on investment between RCG and Lodge is like chalk and cheese.
Lodge may have more upside going forward...but what clubs are prepared to punt on that?
His last deal at the Warriors was reportedly something like $700k and he's earned bugger all since then so understandable he needs/wants to maximise his next deal but would you sign him for $500k for three years?
He knows he's got baggage but he still wants his cake too by the sound of it.

RCG's "brand" is understandably worth more.

I’d still prefer RCG. Lodge was good today but we still lost the middle for the bulk of the contest. In saying that, it probably wasn’t the middles fault. The back 5 didn’t make too many inroads. Garrick was pretty good but the rest were dominated at different stages and obviously Turbo didn’t run with the same purpose.
I think RCG would really help. Ideally, Lodge off the bench instead of Aloiai next year with RCG on board as well, is the best case scenario.

I agree, however he wants up to 750k like he is getting at Parra.
We don't have that kind of $$ left in our cap.

The price tag on RCG would be difficult to fit in the squad, Lodge would be the second best front row forward in this seasons squad for me.

I would rate the current front row forwards in the squad below,

1. Tent
2. Lodge
3. Bully
4. Alioia and Sipley equally.
5. Waddell
6. James

Didn’t include Brown, Jake and the edge forwards who could play there.

All this talk on letting Lodge go is crazy, who else is actually available next season as far as front rowers go.
We're not "letting him go".
His contract is up, he obviously wants a longer and/or better deal.
I think he's on base $$ and has played 11 games since he got here and had two long term injuries.
I'd say we've offered him something and he wants more.

How much do you think he's worth? And for how long?

mate, there is little around to choose from, RCG wants unrealistic money. Lodge is still good value, his injury history in the last 2yrs hasn't been great. I guess, here we go again. Lodge showing great form at the end of both this season and last season. If Lodge wants near marquee money, well, he can forget it. Unfortunately we don't know if a contract has been offered or not. Guess we'll find out soon.

Apparently Lodge wants at least a two year deal, the club have offered a one year deal, this is the sticking point, hopefully they get it done as when fit he is still up there with the good prop forwards.

May be. When Buzz says talking about extending now. Does he mean this week or have had negotiations in the past months. Who knows.

But the Manly offered one year and he wants two has been the position for a few weeks now.

Given he's the starting prop. Favoured in a crunch game against the dogs late in the season. And been starting ever since, and been as good as any of our other props for a while now.

You'd be surprised if Manly weren't currently wanting to chat a little more right now.

Split the difference and offer him one and half years? He often plays for 2 clubs in a single season anyway.
He is due for a change of luck with injuries and hopefully has settled at the Northern Beaches,

He has done remarkably well considering the amount of time he has spent on the field this season, ACL then the torn Pectoral muscle, 2 weeks playing cup and that was his third game back in first grade all against quality opponents.

I don’t know what his worth would be but the way he is playing he is challenging Tent for being the best prop forward in the squad.

I think if he stays fit and hungry he could be one of the best in the game. Has that toughness about him.

His last injury, wasn't it his bicep.

I wish we could afford both Lodge and RCG. I expect RCG is out of our price range. Lodge is 29 and still has a few good seasons left in him depending on injuries. He's our second best prop and needs to be signed. I cannot under the Aloio extension it has got me beat.

Maybe a one year deal then an option in the club's favor for a 2 nd year extension [ if this has not already been suggested ]
Would have to be a bit more coin realistically then he is currently on or apparently .
Looks like the best one , two punch prop option in Paseka and Lodge for starters , Sipley can do O K generally but Bully is a given these days and Alioai "s work rate with a bit more mobility in defence and largely injury free should keep him in favor .
Then the Jake , Brown arrangement .
Sure that there is only so much again that the Eels would be prepared to pay freight on R C G and still can 't see Manly coming into the picture although no doubt still has something to offer somewhere
