Lawrence

Reserve Grader
Can't see BJ making the starting 17 this year (even though he looks in great shape).

Bozo wants more size in the pack and AFB/ Perrett/Meehan fit the bill.

I'd like Trent to use BJ more creatively - perhaps as an edge/middle type forward (not just middle). He has the pace for it and seemed to develop an offload last year.

I have never felt that prop is Lawrence's natural position.

I could see BJ playing lock for mighty Manly when Jake makes SOO this year.

BJ has a fair bit of first grade experience that guys like AFB and Meehan don't have. And at 6'2" and 106 kg, he's not exactly lacking for size either. Then there is that he's still fairly quick over 40, not as quick as he was but still quick.

Could he play some in the back row rather than just the front row? His speed would suggest yes, but his passing skills.....maybe not.

I like BJ, but IMO the injury and treatment (a disc replacement) is very difficult to come back from. Most people have to basically re-learn how to walk after having this done, they rip right through your core to put the disc in and it's a massive invasion on the body. To go through that and play in the NRL again was a herculean effort but it's tough to see him getting past these huge young blokes that are knocking on the door. The guy is really tough and dedicated but I think it's going to be really difficult to stay in the top 17 for him.

Has he ever passed..?

If in every game we use 5 front rowers, and at any given time at least 1/2 front rowers are injured or suspended .... we then need at least 6/7 front rowers.

Lawrence if fit may be worth his weight in rocking horse poop by mid year.

This photo was posted on fb with the caption .. smile if your happy to be back at training.

Does anyone remember Lawrence making a clean line break up in Gosford with only the fullback in front of him. He had support on his outside but chose to try run over the fullback but just got easily tackled. Yeah... zero vision and can't pass. Wont and can't play anywhere but prop.

If BJ is fit and ready to go he would be in my 17. He is a leader, smart and has plenty of experience. I've always enjoyed watching him play especially taking on the Burgess brothers single handily on one occasion. Level headed and will show Perrett, Meehan etc how to go about business.
I don't think he can play back row as he is a pretty poor passer. I've seen him make a few breaks over the years and throws hail Marys in panic. He could however play a bit wider almost like a Watmough role. But def in the 17 for mine.
