Las Vegas 2025

Mate of mine is over there and made these comments.

10 hours of games , breaks etc was ridiculous, last years back to back NRL games were perfect.

Most of the English , Raiders , Warriors fans all left during the Jillaroo’s game.

Beers were 18USD, 30 AUD, 35 NZD, most left due to this , went back to the Casino’s.

The atmosphere , despite what the TV guys were trying to push was a bit flat.

Anyway , just his opinion I guess

It’s funny how most of the analysis around Penrith is about what Cleary and Yeo do with the ball. They’re both great footballers but it’s transparent that the catalyst for their dynasty is line speed and contact in defence. Teams just tread water trying to get out of their own end against them. They really turn the screws on teams. Best defensive side for the last five seasons. They’re up in your face immediately and they win contact more often than not. It’s a simple recipe for success but no other club in the NRL seems capable of replicating it. I’ve seen teams try; even Manly on occasions…but we quickly fatigue and the intensity drops off and that’s the end of that.

Then, once they get some good ball, they’ve got Cleary running set plays with incredible precision and timing. The first try that Laurie scored with two sets of two lead runners was almost impossible to defend against and they ran it with some incredible timing and intensity.

They’re a cut above.

It's almost like defence wins comps?

I'm shocked....cause I've had a few on here try and argue otherwise.....despite the 2005 Tigers being the one and only example of out-scoring teams

Some of the efforts in defence were huge efforts particularly Edwards, they have a lot of things nailed down, though the physical fitness they have is something else.

Thought the Gummies fought valiantly and with 7 minutes to go they just couldn’t get that try to put them in front, the Gummies are not to far off them.

whenever we make the first tackle close to their try line i prepare myself for the standard offside penalty that gets called against manly more often than not. combine that with a few set restarts for slow clearance of the ruck or offside & we can't get off the tackled player quick enough, leading to their quick play the balls and a rolling attack.

I am of the view the Panthers were unlucky when video referee made a poor call in the first half disallowing a try when the try scorer had tacklers holding him and when the in the process of grounding the ball over the line the fullback clearly played at the ball and didn't attempt a tackle. Am I misunderst6anding the current rules?

Maybe, but I thought he hit the arm not the ball. Which is not playing at the ball. But I only saw one angle so don't know for sure.

The NFL player invited by the Canberra Raiders to blow the Viking horn before the NRL season opener was reportedly evicted from Allegiant Stadium for ‘alleged misbehaviour’.

According to the SMH, Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Tyler Manoa was removed from the stadium following a bathroom incident in one of the corporate areas.

Manoa is said to have damaged property and was in turn booted from the venue he plays home games at.

lulz

The NRL is investigating a claim that a Warriors assistant coach assaulted an English journalist at half-time of the club's season-opening loss to Canberra.

Warriors assistant Richard Agar, who hails from England, allegedly grabbed the journalist, who asked not to be named, by the throat at the back of the Allegiant Stadium press box.

The journalist from The Guardian also claimed he was verbally abused by Agar in the incident.

Rugby league coming to America.. warts and all

That's a lot for a beer!

Yeah 10 hours is a lot of footy. though I liked the extra teams this time around.

A few shots of the stands did show many people opted to get refreshments or 'hit the head' while the Jillaroos and eng were playing.

It's interesting seeing the aust fox coverage and comments.

I mean - they put the one game on tv (fox usa) but it seems to me that the aussie public are being mislead into thinking it was on fox all day long.

After the first game, coverage went to women's college basketball. (I'm 90% sure of that - it was some women's sporting contest.)

Headlines like: Blown away! Shocked! Amazing! Probably all happened but some positive comments from a few cut yobbos is hardly 'speaking for amerikka'

But I do want it to succeed - so onwards and ... "put it all on 14 red!!"

sorry, where was i?

I'm torn between my anti violence stance and that it happened to an english journo....

Agree ... tried to fit too much into one day ... pommies and Girls ... good idea, but 4 games over 10 hours too much .. V'Landy's is not a dope, he will take it on board. ... I think the girls are worth persisting with, just needed a more competitive game .. big female sport participation in the states ... the pommies can piss off.

The price of a hotdog and beer won't change .. what stays in Las Vegas is your money.

I was drinking hand mixed margaritas last year there and thought they were decently priced.
But that was last year !!!!

Plus if people are going to drink american beer - they deserve to get ripped off, ha.

I didn't actually drink anything at the game. My ticket included some bar away from the rabble but I dunno. I just sat down and behaved.

Wished Tim Tszyu good luck as he walked around the inside of the field. I politely said 'Mr Tszyu' which probably caught him off guard as he turned around and gave me a thumbs up.

Maybe I'll take the bro in law next year (depending on who is playing.)
