Match Stats

Really says something when you lose to a team that got booed off the field at halftime by their own fans. I think this is a new low in the Mestrov, Seibold, DCE era of pathetic efforts.
Mick I knew the outcome before kick-off as soon as I read your pre-game post that we will win. Nothing good to Manly comes from your optimism mate. People blaming Dollars, and Spoon, but I blame you lol

A lot of talk about our attacking weaknesses including DCE brain explosions and non running dummy halves, but how about our defence letting in 28 points against the team with the worst attacking stats in the game? How Jim Dymock has stayed in his job this long is unfathomable. Surely there are plenty of ex Manly players that could do just as good or bad a job. Why is he still employed Anthony?

Feeling better now? This is a very close competition and we were not helped by the early loss of Lehi the HIA suffered by Tommy Talau and only forwards on the bench.
Haha, yes, you get over it pretty easily. Although a day hasn’t changed my mind that we are still a bit of a mess currently unfortunately

Seeing as lots of blame has been apportioned to seemingly everyone else, I feel like it is warranted to point out that Hopoate bombed an all but certain try, right next to the uprights, before his head knock.

Accidents happen but we win that game if we are 22-0 at half time.

A lot of posts have identified plenty of faults in and about our game last night, lots of blame, equally as much defending going on, the pro Seibs camp v the sack Seibs camp, player blaming and shaming, excuse making, etc.

For me nothing short of a broom and a rebuild is going to work, we’re shot, those defending Seibold will eventually come to see he doesn’t have what it takes, bit similar to the DCE situation, so many defended him for years, the whole coaching squad needs to be shown the door, while we have some decent players we could potentially rebuild a side around, we are burdened with so many duds, it’s hard to take.

Theres no quick fix and seemingly no desire to face some glaring truths, we are in for plenty more pain and suffering, it’s not just last night, anyone thinking this is a close competition (it possibly is) but equally anyone thinking that and suggesting we are a chance as anything can happen, please that’ll do me, we are closer to the wheels coming completely off than ever before. No wonder Turbo has come out and said he doesn’t want to hold anyone back and is contemplating the UK, I wouldn’t be surprised, if he secretly wants out of the joint as much as DCE.

There are no excuses for losing that game last night, it just exposed us for what we are, where we’re at and what we have to look forward to. I don’t know if I admire those that can keep the faith and think we are only a couple of players away from winning a comp, or think they are also as clueless as our coach, recruitment staff and owner. Dark days are on there way, dark days for our once great club, sad, very, very sad indeed.

Agree. Reckon the club is in malaise with every grade side affected. Our retention and recruitment has been poor. How we have been saddled with a pack largely consisting of cast offs is astonishing, and plus of course we have had the DCE debacle. Does the current management have the nous and capability to fix things up? One can only hope I suppose.

Alright Alright Alright, enough is enough, I've had it up yall lose FU####KEEENNNNN arse Manly.

My membership is on an edge for a while now, I'm not gonna continues to pay my hard earned $$$cash cost of living money for a bunch of FU###$$$##KKKKK up coaching staff, don't get me wrong and some players. But the coach and his staff had to b blame for this sought of ****TTT and it happened all too often. He or they have an excused for every FU###@@$%@KENNN game we lose and those excused is NOT FU####@%%$KENNN good enough. I wonder what da hell did U CU###T say to the boys in that situation, all of us would love to know. I know what I would say, guard the ball with your life till the last tackle, and waste as much time as U can then kick the FU####KENNN ball as high and far in the corner then tackle as if your NRL career depend on it. From what happened it was completely da opposite, all da idiots played like they're 30+0 behind which we should've been in front instead of 16+0. In da first half I was looking for a player to complaint about couldn't find any, all good very happy with all except a few but they made up for during the half. WAT DA FU#####kkkkk HAPENDED AFTER THAT FU###kk u MANLY.

We need someone who break down doors, have an investigation on everything that's going on then run over someone with a truck to satisfied us supporters enough said.

I feel your pain.

To answer your question, I doubt it, but like you, I hope so, as hope’s about all that’s left……

Hard to know which game I enjoyed more? Eels or Knights? Both had their moments. Definitely a team on the up.....
I still think the St George loss was the worst of the three lemon losses so far.
Dragons
Knights
Eels
In that order.

Interesting that the two teams that have been reported as legitimately chasing DCE,Dolphins and Roosters(yes I’m 99% sure he’s off to the Chooks) currently have young halves that are excelling.Katoa is a star at the Dolphins and is complemented well by Nikorima. As for the Roosters, theyve got Walker returning whilst Smith and Savala are improving every week.I wonder what the Roosters are thinking about with DCE because his career has proven that he struggles to control games and his form the last 18 months has been that of an aging player, very up and down. Are they just desperate for a kill to make up for all the ones they’ve missed in recent years?DCE is certainly no Cronk. He’s a favourite of those in the media,so they won’t point out his foibles, but those that suggest he’s playing as well as ever and is in the top 4-5 halves in the game and is deserving of big $$ at the age of 37,obviously don’t watch him closely like Manly fans do

Plenty of good points in that post, LC, and much of it fair and accurate.

Have to disagree with the framing of the bolded paragraph. Yes, a 40/20 can be a smart move in the right context. We had just started the second half, 16-0 up with plenty of points left on the table. We had rolled up the field for 65m in the very first set (of the 2nd half) with simple strong runs. We were in decent field position for an attacking bomb. We were then rolling comfortably on the first couple of tackles in the very next set of possession... then, Dollars goes for that 40/20. Why would you not continue to roll up the middle, take an attacking kick and pin them down? If we were being pinned down coming out of our end, I could understand the choice. WE weren't. Ironically, Knights lifted after that very kick, and we were then pinned down for many sets after. Why are we so adverse to grinding and learning to play smart % plays?

To further reinforce the "wrong context" perspective, we also have to look at that decision to kick on the third just before half time when we had much better options and were all over them. It's repeated decisions like these that bring Dollar's inability to manage a game into sharp focus., IMO. Way too many low percentage play choices at inopportune times, that come off as ignorant at best. I just don't see a player like Fog making decisions like that in those contexts. Of course, he wont be perfect and we will miss those flashes of brilliance that Dollars provides, but boy, I look forward to some semblance of game management and common sense from a half at Manly after the past decade+
Couldn’t agree more. Also the 40/20 strategy for mine is a risk reward strategy more reserved for tight contests to give a team a leg up or shift momentum. Why on 3rd tackle would you try to do that when up 16-0 and rolling up field. Two more rucks takes us to their 40 or close to it, where you then put up a high contestsble kick on their goal line. Worst case they are rucking it out from their goaline. That point was when I said to my son “you watch I bet they roll down field and score here”. Man I was furious.

Also this game and Penrith were games where we really should have been up 2 or more trys at the half had it not been for dce silly decisions. Keep it in the hands at the end of the first and we score for sure. 20pts would have been a bridge too far. 16pts is just not far evough with this team.
