Jorge Taufua injured.

Couldn't Manly medically retire Jorge?

An ACL usually takes a year, so Jorge could get a new contract June 2018 somewhere.

Meanwhile he gets a payout and Manly gets a Cap relief

George will be ready to play again at the beginning of next year, whether it's still with Manly remains to be seen, as he's up for a new cntract at the end of this year.
Most of his contract money would already have been paid for this year as there's only a few months before season's end,.

personally i have mixed feelings about whether he stays his form this year has been good, yet there is mistakes in him which just shouldn't be in a first grader with 100 plus first grade games.

His form this year has been outstanding. With him out, at least 2 or 3 blokes in our team are going to have to significantly increase their workload to compensate for his loss.

I feel bad for Jorge as it kind of feels like our medical staff failed him by leaving him out there. Especially when he's off contract.

It can't be underestimated how much work he does taking the hitups out of our half. Will not be able to be easily replaced.

Here's hoping we do re-sign him as I feel he's integral to the way our team currently plays with our backs taking a lot of the early hitups in a set.

The issue was, his acl was going to go at any time after that initial injury. If he went off, he would have probably done his acl next week.

And yes, I hope they do sign him for at least another year.

Not really...if he came off and rested the medial ligament for a couple of weeks, it would be strong again and the ACL wouldn't have to compensate.

In saying that, these days when players go down, if they can play on, they play on. It's the risk that clubs take to get the win. If the score was 30-6 when Jorge strained the medial, he would probably come from the field. With the game in the balance, we needed him out there and luck wasn't on our side unfortunately.

Yup Wright's goalkicking has been a significant improvement over Dylan's. And he has been fantastic filling in at fullback. Logically and deservedly should retain a spot in the run on team.

but has it?

Yesterday was his 2nd and 3rd from the sideline and missed both. Walks seemed to get a shedload more from out wide as a percentage.

Huge loss in metres no one works harder from our end. For knights thinking jono wright now does a job nothing flash.
Thought he was okay at dogs for couple of years there in the centres and wing.
Matt wright the regular wing spot once tom comes back.

See i think this is all in peoples heads these days. 8 for the year so far, less than most wingers, same as Uate.

actaully looking for wingers with less errors who have played as many games is very barron. Found Cotric with 5 which is sensational in a debut year, Linnett with 4 and that was it.

Horhay has been a part of the furniture for a while , I close my eyes when they bomb him but gee he makes it up when coming off our line OR going for theirs!

Hope he gets another opportunity in Maroon & White.
