Joey Walsh

I first aired my concerns about him in June.

I know he's not the first player to be toxic and play NRL for Manly, but it's different when you're actively involved in the situation. Can't get behind him.
He's only 19, people can change. Maybe he has the niggle to get under player's skin, which is what we are clearly lacking. Willie Mason, Gordy Tallis, were anti heroes back in the day but they changed overtime.

I know him. Not a big fan of his character.
So do I funnily enough. Although it has been a fair while since I’ve seen him, I’ve heard things over the years. He’s been pretty well known in this area for quite some time. Was always one of those superstar kids that would win all of the school races and the like.

It’d be unfair of me to make a judgement of him based on the past, and in fairness he was always fine to me personally so I really don’t have any reason to dislike the guy, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if his character does rub people the wrong way, even now.

I want him to do well though, would be fantastic for the team to have a solid young half. I’ve been keen to see his debut for weeks, experience is key. My fear is he’s had too much hype before we’ve really seen anything.

Wish him all the best on Friday.

Im not sure if anyone has seen the Michael Jordan / Chicago Bulls doco "The Last Dance", but Jordan was very blunt with his teammates if he saw things that were not productive towards winning.
Seems like attitude brings glory, not personality.
Alan Border a perfect example closer to home.
The personality traits that push people to the top sometimes are not great socially

Dare I say a premiership winning spine for next year??? Brooks / Fogarty / Walsh / Turbo.
Throw in some younger blood in those forwards (Caleb, Hart, Muagututia, Laiafi, Puavase). Throw in Paseka / Sio / Lodge. Luv to see Semisi Kioa have a shot at centre partnering Tolu. This kid has been burning them in reserves.

I am excited for 26!!!
Chance on Hethrington from the Broncs as well.

Didn’t Schu tell everyone he was going to be the best in the game
?

In the early stages when his confidence seemed to be high it was reported that he said that. However we can all see his confidence ebbed, seemed to be faltering, after Hasler brought in Foran as 5/8 and moved Schuster to second row. Then the Titmus tragedy, reportedly his closest friend died. There's another factor here. People who are seeking to believe in themselves will tend to say outlandish things such as 'I am the best in the World'. Trump is a perfect example. It hides serious insecurities and self delusions. I hope that doesn't apply to Walsh. I don't think he's said he'll be the best.
