Personally not convinced on Humphreys.

Much prefer Fog and Walsh.

Just some stats for this season.

Humphreys in 6 games has 2 try assists and 1 line break assist.

As a comparsion...

Tom Weaver in 3 games has 3 and 1
King-Togia in 2 games has 3 and 2
Ilias in 7 games has 4 and 4
Clifford in 7 games has 4 and 3

That's the key point

Nobody at the club really knew DCEs intention.
That's why I'm so filthy on him..
Makes out he's been really clear and wants the club to be in a position to find a replacement but in pre season ( after Humphrey's was already gone) DCE can be seen on The Manly Way asking to put Hoey Walsh's locker next to his..
As if he was planning to bring the youngster on under his wing.

So that's in January 2025.. DCE is totally making out his all in with the club.. then he starts the season off with a bang.. in top form.

I've said this numerous times ot was Round 3 and the Dylan Brown signing broke.. that's the point DCE and his management went to the Chooks.. DCEs mind set changed from that moment.

If Brown is worth 1.3mill then even in my last season or two in worth at least that much.

He then knew all about Manlys salary cap and he could only be offered 750k.. the rest is history.

Interesting thing now is he's agitating an early release and has put that in motion with his
" smear campaign" and " i overheard a club official bag me out"..blah blah

Yes, I think that Dylan Brown money has certainly shaken up the player market and you can see how it might make players think twice. Will only get worse with the new clubs. And don’t get me wrong, I’m no supporter of DCE and his actions. I still bear a grudge from when he initiated the breakup of that 2007-13 dynasty through his self centredness.

Not so sure Humphreys is the reason south’s will win or lose a game, it’s all about Latrell & Cody. Plenty of other average half’s like Clifford or Ilias would have the same record if they were the halfback of that team. He suits them well as they don’t need a game changer just a game manager & let the other boys do the rest. We’ll see if Walsh gets there but from what I’ve seen he has more talent then Humphreys & I’d also say 95% of NRL fans are taking Fogarty over Humphreys if they had the choice

And dont get me wrong, there are plenty of former Manly players I'd love to have back May, Samuela and Api and oooft our pack would hum.

I also still think Latu will kick through and be very influential.

Just think Weekes and Humphreys will be solid NRL at best

I think alot of people ( including Manly fans) would have much more appreciated if DCE had been a little more open and honest when he came out on TV with "the announcement"

If i was advising him i would have had him do this:

1 get the club to call a press conference and turn up with Mestrov and Seibs or at least one of them

2 wore his Manly gear

3 Announced

DCE, I've spoken to Seibs and the club, I indicated that I may play on for another season or possibly 2, either in Superleague or at another club, i would like to think that I've given 16 of my best years to Manly and they would allow me to look after my family in the last year or so.

We met with my management and Manly made it clear they wanted me to stay on, but due to salary cap issues the amount of a new final contract would not have been in line with what an NRL half and Origin player would be getting.
The club spoke to the NRL and the NRL were talking about being able to register a contract for around 500/600k as a one club player and 16 years service.. but honestly when you consider its my last year or 2 and the money that has been circulating for recent half signings i have an opportunity to really set up my family.

So you would consider leaving Manly for another NRL side?

DCE - yes, I feel i still have some good footy in me and I would relish the opportunity if another NRL club came knocking, it would be really hard having to run out against Manly but we are professional athletes playing a professional sport.

To all the Manly fans I hope to put every effort into making 2025 a premiership year, we have a strong squad and have gotten off to a good start to the season, I've spoken to team mates and we realise the window of opportunity is closing for some of us veterans so we really want to make a run for the finals.

End of story..


Wouldn't that ( even though it still would have sucked big time) been a better look for DCE, the club and the fans.

But wait...that above scenario wouldn't have worked....hmmmm.
How does that then lead to getting out of Manly before June 30 and going to the Roosters on a big pay day.. that way not only does he get around $2.1 to $2.5mill for 26 and 27 but an additional $500k for half of 2025..

That my friends is what this whole fiasco is all about..

The Solid at Best argument is good enough for a player who has time on their side and has managed to string a few NRL games together, what can Fogarty offer considering he has been solid at best for a long time?

It’s only a small amount of people that have problems about this Fogarty deal & funnily enough they are mostly on here. If you check other socials opposition fans couldn’t believe we got such a good deal for an established halfback that is playing very good football.

In a time when you got Ilias, Cogger, Clifford, Townsend etc all getting good runs in 1st grade so far this year we should be happy with a above average halfback on the $650-$700k deal. Fogarty is no rep level player but he is up there for 1 of the best game managers in the comp with his kicking game which is what we need.

Another thing, the complaining about Humphreys is ridiculous, Fogarty is a better player than him. ‘Humphreys is cheaper’ blah blah blah… Do people not think his manager would have been asking for an upgrade the second DCE announced he was leaving with no other competition for halfback except Arthur?? I say no other competition because if he was still here Walsh never would have been signed & potentially Large brothers as well

Gutherson we should have never let go of.

Tom Wright, not sure he kicks on in the NRL.

And I'm certainly no expert, we all get it right at times, all get it wrong at times.

I was devestated we lost Feledy, thought Tuitavake was going to be great thought Schuster was the one.

God back in the day Aaron Groom....also had high hopes for Morgan Stromquest. Thought Liam Knight would play for Australia.
