I think because the players are different shapes and sizes like the NRL players used to be.
The big ones get tired the small ones take over, deep attacking lines etc.

I loved watching this game. Real tackles and there are gaps to be taken unlike the men's game where they are so big and fast that everything is covered.
Looks like 80's footy. Great stuff.
