Jason Saab

Fast dudes bulk up , where the true speedsters aim to keep that pace and avoid the body transformation that make them all rounders , able to do hit ups as well as score. Instead stay speedt, that is his strength that we seldom use

Most speedy dudes are smallish, ( there are striders as well ) built a bit closer to the ground like hoppa but Saabs physique , like turbo just screams out “smash me “

You would have him roving up the guts , koula as well,
Walkers on
Walkers on
But we just have no play around the ruck and mid field due to forwards at times and half hooker

Saab has issues but like kelly, suli, sirro, oku , and koula, and pribably others they get very little decent opportunities on the right side unless it from Tom and he is down
One season of playing to saabs strengths, drawing some inside men to create space, kicks that land

One thing about saabs hands in the air
10 m out he isnt trying to catch, just bat back
Get a few on the tryline before we judge if he can catch on the tryline . They are indeed different

I thought Saab started off the year incredibly well. He really improved the yardage carries, and was looking a bit better at his weak areas in general.

Then the DCE announcement occured, and like the rest of the team, his confidence dropped off significantly.

I heard from somewhat credible sources, that Saab was being considered for the Blues early in the season, but like Haumole and Turbo, this switched off very quickly.

Like most of the team besides Koula and Bullemor, I think they need to find some more confidence. I don't think that can happen under the current captain anymore. He has absolutely no hope of inspiring them, he wants to ditch them ASAP.

Unlike Daniel Tupou, who was a skinny Fijian winger who has bulked up over the years, Saab’s genetics simply won’t allow him to put on significant weight.

His skill is speed, but only once he’s given the space to reach top speed, & the other teams have worked this out, so he has been effectively smothered since his first couple of seasons outside Harper & Turbo.

Unfortunate.

I’m not going to argue with that 👍.. so, let’s piss him off and get a winger for the job. 🤷‍♂️ He was handy that one year in 2021 when he was unknown and had Turbo running amok to set him up. Now, he seems not the best choice for a contemporary winger.

100%

Yeah his timidness about a collision, just hurts so much in what is a game built around collision and contact.

Saab has had a really poor couple of months even for him. The coach sticking solid has to be questioned.

I think fullback in Ressies, would be good for him.

He was improving defensively after a shakey introduction to first grade with Manly but that improvement and form has dropped off a cliff.

He also doesn't look to be as committed when attacking opportunities present themselves like last week, all he had to do was keep his arm up and plant it down. I'd say he's playing like an athlete and not a footy player based off something like that, but he hasn't really done anything of note for a while now.

I'm just a supporter and even I think it's been a long year and there's still another week to go. Maybe he's playing injured, maybe he's unhappy, but either way bro is woefully out of form right now.

He was absolutely disgraceful tonight. The defence for the first Dragons try was atrocious. Then, we just needed him to dive on the ball and shut down a Dragons possession with the clock dying down and he just stood and looked at the ball bounce up and hit his arm; just terrible. Imagine that happening in a GF or something. He is just not a footballer.

I really want him to be good. He has everything we want on the wing, blinding speed and height.

I don't think he's received enough quality ball this year, he's probably suffered due to Turbos drop in speed that used to create his space, and Reubens inability to pass. But he's also been horrible with his hands and scrambling defence. I think some areas of his defence have improved, but it's the scramble cover defence where he just jumper grabs.

Another thing to his defence...watch the way the Roosters and Storm out a high kick to Tupou and Oats, the bomb drops right on the goal line, DCE has been landing it 10m out from the line giving him no chance other than to just bat it back.

I'm staying positive with this one, I think Jamal will hit the target more. Saab has to much game breaking attributes to just give up on. Image he and Nav Willet on opposite flanks!

Anyway, going off the match comments, I'm sure my opinion is in the minority. But I'm sticking to it.

No longer needs to improve has a contract to the end of 29. I understand spine players on longterm deals but a winger? seemed a strange decision and this season has been a step back for him.

I hope it is just a poor season and he bounces back next year but he is back to being "shy" when it comes to contact he needs to harden up.

The trouble is he has no agility; less than even a lot of forwards. Thats why he arm grabs because he is off balance and has a terrible turning circle. Unless he can stay upright and run in a straight line, he is useless. Tonight, he tripped over his own feet with wide open space.
