Gifty was welcomed back regardless of the Freddy Kruger jumper because despite the circumstances surrounding his departure from Manly, he left in a dignified manner. And if any ex-Manly player had the right to publicly unload on the club, it was Gifty. But he didn't do that.

Foran should not be given the same courtesy.

or Matai who were openly firing bullets on his behalf,and happily destabilising the team and undermining Toovey in the process.

Why did Gift have a right to publicly unload on the club?

The guy played 45 games from the last 3 seasons at Manly. His pro rata rate would have been over $1M a year - the club had every right not to offer him a decent contract given his history, he had told them what amount he was after and there was a huge chasm in between.

Souffs did offer him about 600K and got half a season out of him.

Sure the guy was great but his body was past it unfortunately, right call by Manly, right call by Gifty to go grab his super OS. Look forward to seeing him back after retirement in a year or 2

I thought it was Matai who copped it from Gift, not Foran. Matai went off dazed and with a smashed nose if I recall, though they shook hands after.
