Jake Trbojevic... take a bow

Have you seen Manly the moment Jake's not on the field ? Lol

If Jake missed a full season as his brother regularly does, I have no doubt we end that year with the spoon. Considering how sh*t our forward pack has been for a long time now, maybe Jake isn't paid enough? (Not really...but you get my drift)
That’s true, however Mick has a point. It is infuriating and led to at least one of the Wobbegongs’ tries last week.

Plus of his fellow forwards, who don’t pull their weight, might share some of the blame.

Does make you wonder if the Bulldogs were prepared to literally throw the bank at trying to lure Jake and Turbo on a package deal 4 or so seasons ago .
Maybe to get Turbo[ and about his general value at the time ] but must have been some doubt with Jake's proposed payment which Manly had one way or the another , felt obliged to offer .
Maybe a bit like the Samual and Latu Fauni " s West Tiger"s contract arrangement, Sam close to the mark but Latu not at that value ; [ or yet ].
Similar to a few season 's ago and Jake 's form a bit down at the time and obviously commanding a fair chunk of the cap and some natural questioning of his cap value but then largely providing not bad value for money after that stanza .
Looked fairly apparent that he was getting a bit jaded a few weeks ago , really hope for Manly "s sake that he can somehow find some extra legs not only for tomorrow but also ongoing or may have to be used a bit more selectively with his game time .
But the team does depend on his very reliable mid field defence for long stages so that would have to be well managed and if he can also very importantly be still able to deliver

I know he is very important in defense, but he doesn't add what he used to in attack. But you've got to think of it from the point of view of who else we could be buying for the same money.

Compare Jake to Yeo at the Panthers - who is on $250k less but is probably worth more than Jake, he has similar defensive output but also makes incisive runs that end in a quick play the ball. Jake stops like a sack of potatoes after running 5 metres. 5-6 years ago he was bending the line at will and making regular line breaks.

I think Jake is worth maybe $600-700k the way he is playing lately. Jake 5 years ago was definitely worth $1m.

What the Bulldogs seceded in doing was jacking up Tom and Jakes sign on deal. Think they offered 1.5m each per season, they knew they weren't going anywhere but Manly. Bit like Garage wars on tv, bid the price up then let it go to the biggest bid.

V’Landys ball destroyed Jake.

Good on them for not leaving, they are as loyal as they come and I respect that. As far as what they are paying these days it’s very questionable but that’s footy I guess

Exactly like I said. Jake's biggest asset was always his dominant tackling. When they brought in set restarts it saw a need to get off tackled players quickly and all but killed off the dominant tackle.

Unfortunately 4 years later Jake still doesn't get off players quickly enough for the referees liking and he gives away at least 2 or 3 set restarts per game.

Someone from silvertails will know the details around this one, but did we get Snake years ago but only if we took a package deal and signed his brother.

What was his name again…Gift, I think went by? That guy worked out ok for us.

You never know when someone signs a deal whether they will be the next Snake and Gift or the next, I can’t think of a package deal for any other brothers at club right now.

Jake has conceded 19 ruck infringements this year (most in the league). He has play 22 games.

That is 0.86 a game

If you add the 7 penalties that makes it 26 and 1.18 per game.

Not saying that is good but not at least 2 or 3 a game.

Its still not a good thing. And that one isn't Jake's fault, there is technically nothing wrong with his tackling. I'm certain the referees, like Bill Harrigan said years ago, have "dirt sheets" on each team and guaranteed on Manly's it says something about Jake Trbojevic and ruck infringements because every time he tackles someone all you hear from the refs every time is "JAKE GET OFF. JAKE GET OFF"

Thought Jake was a bit quiet today with and without the ball, ready for a big game against the Rorters next week.
