Jake Trbojevic offers nothing in attack

Not an unusual occurrence… there was a game last year (can’t remember which one unfortunately) where Jake got rested and the opposition put 2 tries on straight away by going through our centre…

Seibs ended up putting Jake back on after less than 10min rest…
Yep, & as far as I’m concerned, a try saved at our end is equivalent to a try scored at the other end so Jake earns his keep with his defence alone.

Is he though?
Yes feathered friend he is
Bozo the Clown is happy when we win round one
But he is happiest when we win Premierships

Last night in the game day thread I said:

"Dear Jake Trbojevic

PLEASE prove me wrong"

Last night Jake got zero complaints from me. But as he said about our win ... we have to do that consistently. Same with how he played last night.

All teams look awful in todays game when penalties and 6 agains add up and they did and that coincided with a 20 week preparation and tommy fit as
We are no different
Not saying we didnt contribute to those stats by dominating parts of play

The test is , how do we cope in the same situation which is now the MRL
Momentum rugby league
Historically we have shown that we dont and the way we handled our lead indicates we are still attack trick ponies

Love to be proven wrong, have plenty of scope to get to sydney for the big games but i just might keep some other options up my sleeve for september partying

But we currently have 100% record for the third year running. Call it off now and the top 4 will do

Are we that starved of success that we are taking pages from the parra fans playbook by being march premiers. Just playing people. Love yous all….mostly

Whenever we get at least 50:50 possession we will beat most teams. I put Brisbane into this same category. Both teams are great in attack.
Whether we have the defensive fortitude of Penrith and Melbourne, who can outlast teams even if starved of possession, is an issue we have to address. We haven't had a battle-hardened team for more than a decade.

Had not used it… until now…

Well not completely true… At one point I somehow had @Bearfax on ignore without meaning to lol
Oh damn you had Bear blocked?! The old boy (respectfully) makes some cracker contributions, even plays devil's advocate properly sometimes.

I think it's obvious Jake is a cornerstone of our pack and without going off too early, he's started 2025 impressively. Vlandysball in 2025 does not always benefit any team all of the time (except Penrith). Despite the changes and how footy is played today I personally still think the finals are refereed in a way that makes it almost a different game, look at what happened to us in 2021. The finals bring players contributions like Jake to the front because there's no where to hide. He and the entire squad are one of, if not the most experienced teams in the competition. I'm confident they understand the strategics of timing a long season, a lot better than a pie eater like me does.

If Jake and the team can maintain their current momentum, keep healthy and time their run at the right point I think we could win it easily. The perennial top 4 Roosters are almost guaranteed to lose that spot this year, in turn providing an opportunity for a team to take that advantage a top 4 finish gives. Yeah Penrith have won 4 in a row but they're not a lock, and the Storm in 2025 are not the Storm of old (Poor Pappy is made of glass 😭) so it's more up for grabs this year than any other IMO.

I'm not declaring Manly as March premiers by any means, I'm just saying if we find ourselves at the big dance I can see us winning against anyone this year. Anyway this was my essay on why Manly will definitely win the 2025 NRL Premiership, thanks for coming!

You make a good point about opposition sides. Regular heavyweights Chooks and Souths are both starting the year behind the 8 ball, conceivably can recover to play finals but not win. Eels won't be making a comeback this year. Last years finalists Cows, Knights and Raiders may not even make the 8.
Great chance for Manly to go top 4.

Agree with this.....and this is exactly why DCE going the chip and chase on tackle 1, even with a 24 point lead, is not smart footy for us.....and had me yelling in frustration.

Until we can show some consistent resilience in defence, it's just not on.

The Submissive Cows were easily milked and did offer much resistance.
I am looking forward to the team that we play that gives us that resolute challenge
I agree with you feathered friend the importance of the resilience in defence that is required
We can also add to that , Football smarts in taking the right options at the right time
and also being able to stay calm and cool under pressure and rise above adversity like great premiership winning Sea eagles
