there are about 16 players over the 700 tackles a year mark and their offensive stats are better than jakes.

My opinion is that Manly will never win a premiership if they think that an underperforming forward pack is the way to do it. Seibold needs to get his act together.

Tough one, great and inspirational leader and local legend. We saw the junior panthers last night and there are loads of kids much cheaper looking for an opportunity. I actually feel we can't win the big one until Jake retires as his dollars dilutes the team. What club now would pay him 950k? We haven't even got a decent hooker or left side second row. If the forwards dont win the field position generally speaking you dont win the game. And when that show pony half back of ours retires with his long kicking game then we will see what happens.

If I recall correctly, we did try to re-sign Gift, at a reduced contract, obviously....only for the NRL to deny it.

Jurbo has broken the line fewer times over the past three seasons than me when hanging out the washing.
However, many teams have succeeded by having one dedicated forward who is a defensive colossus. That's Jurbo. Let's just consider him now as a one-dimensional player; the antithesis of, say, Reece Walsh who can attack but can't defend.
We saw last night how brittle we are without Jurbo's defence.

Yep his last 3 contracts were for 1 season only as he was completely busted. Loved the Gift.

He actually signed a multi-year deal with the bunnies (got a thumb injury) - got a release
He then signed a 3 year deal with Catalans (got a release due to family reasons)
He then signed a 2 year deal with Leigh (who then got relegated)

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story though 🤦‍♂️
