I don't buy that theory at all. Des brings players through when they are ready, sometimes to the great frustration of fans. He does so in the best interests of the young player's development, and the team. It's his opinion. I never thought Schu would start this season in NRL, and I always thought he's going to be eased in reasonably early in the year, with a view to playing an important role for us by the end of the year.
We don't want to put the responsibility for this team on the wunderkind's shoulders. We want this team to become a good team, then add the wunderkind for some X factor on top.

Problem is he follows a one size fits all approach. As a former teacher I can most definitely tell you that is not the way to go. What may be damaging for one young person can launch another to unexpected heights.

Guess that once Foz was viewed as the i st choice 6 , was going to limit Josh 's starting options and Des 's still apparent preference to go with most of the previously established pack . Still thought a bench option would have been appealing for him but Funa is no doubt there to cover a few more back options , If some of team do not perform though at least up to reasonable expectations , Des is going to find it hard to leave Josh out of top 17 or even run on contention and inclusion . .

Gee , you must be quite versatile career wise to go from teaching to nursing Budgie . From pupils to patients with a fair bit of patience for both roles no doubt .

I was talking about the foresight to be able to judge whether a kid is ready to take on more adult responsibilities. This is kinda rare for an eight to 12 year old.

Surely this talk about Jake playing hooker is an early April fools joke?? If its true it really is an admission of failure by the coaching staff to not have a recognized 9 in the squad. I cannot believe that this has not been addressed and the first few games are either going to show that it is not an issue or that it is a glaring one!

Funa in 1st grade for us, says we don't have the depth to be a semi- final team.

He has been named on the bench as a utility..I know what I would prefer.. and that's Schuster to come in

Never a nurse Al (though I admire them enormously) but an unusual working path. Teaching, a bit of sports journalism and film reviewing, worked at the entertainment centre so I could see every act that came to town for nothing, worked at an airline so I could travel the world for next to nothing, about to sell my Eastern Suburbs dog walking business and thinking about what's next!

It was sheer negligence going into this season without a specialist nine when we presumably have compensation due to the stand down rule and the bloke is virtually out for the season.
