Lock these days is an extra middle forward and there is not a lot of difference between that and front row.

I think it depends on the prop. Some like Mat Scott and just great at going forward and defending the middle even under fatigue, then there is the Marty Tapow type who gives second phase and enjoy running angles.
Some locks get lost at prop and try to be too creative when they should be going forward and getting a quick play the ball.
