Jake T.

Jake gets $400k cap free as long term player next year so the club fans can rate him as a $400k player rather than $800. At this stage of his career he would be a great 30 min prop and then have a spell. Club needs to find that younger 13 and Jake can give great service. Jake can be our Nathan Brown but play 20+ games a year and for 3 more seasons.

100 percent agree. We need his leadership for three more years.

But do you bring him on for the last 30 to keep things tight or the first 30 to try and get an advantage

Not too sure how long or playing stint at prop that Jake does take on [ or has ] once the likes of Brown and co have been injected into a game at 13 but would be fairly considerable
Depending on the interchange circumstances in the future if Jake does just revert to a prop role but would think more like 55 or so min on the paddock including starting , even if it included say 3 stints with interchange passages .
Should always maintain his game day committed intent , just being able to maintain a solid intensity that he could still ideally sustain over say again , 55 min of normal game time as a prop

I don't think that's how the long service relief on the cap works. I think it is just if a club has a player who has played >8 years with them, then the club gets $300K added to their cap once. I believe it is just added to the clubs overall cap and not to any individual player.

How much can clubs spend?

The Base Salary Cap for 2025 is $11.25 million for the 30 highest remunerated players at each club plus up to $0.3 million Veteran and Developed Player allowance and a $0.1 million Motor Vehicle allowance.

Quite right, we would be eligible for long service relief for either DCE, Jake or Tom and perhaps Croker, however applies for one player only and not specifically to that player .

What's the benefit of it really then? One club can have 4 players at 8+ years whilst the other club might have 1 player at 8+ years. In the end both clubs get a 300k Salary Cap Increase.

Meaning more often than not, every club will have atleast 1 x 8 year+ player, meaning all clubs just get an extra 300k on their salary cap.

Yep, It is just an extra $300K on your cap. The benefit? That's another 2 plodders or an upgrade to one young fella ....

Theres no benefit if it's so loose that every club gets it.

Might hurt Perth and PNG, and that's about it.

His brutal defence tonight was sensational! Pay him 900k every day of week if he’s going to defend like that!
Was our best tonight! Was everything in the middle.

I doubt he made many metres, but seriously, supercoach stats don't mean anything in the real game. Making metres is NOT HIS MAIN JOB. He won us that game through his defensive intensity!

Best post on the forum this year ❤️

You get it. You understand that we won because we limited Melbourne’s opportunities inside 20 because we had a meat axe that lead the line speed all night.

I said this in the gameday thread but good to see some C about him today... never seen him getting into it like that with the opposition and I enjoyed it very much! 😃
