Jake T.

You do it a lot though, so you could excuse people for thinking you actually mean what you imply when posting the way you do. It might be time to get some new material for your comedy routine because the old stuff comes across as stale and self righteous.
Oh. OK, sorry.

To you and anyone else I’ve upset, whether you have a nagging wife, or if you are a nagging wife, please accept my heartfelt condolences.

All good by me mate. I don't care what you post tbh. But I do believe you are being entirely dishonest by pretending it is all just a joke. By all means state your views, call me whatever you want. And then stand by what you say. You don't like me that's fine. You're not the first or last who feels that way.

I don't like the persona you present on here. Which means we would almost certainly not like one another if we met face to face. But who really cares? Not me Mr McGee.

I still maintain Jakes demise is greatly exaggerated.

He still offers significant value to the team.

The leadership, passion, defensive work people acknowledge but he is also quite good on push supports and decoys. This is unfashionable work that creates space for our more creative players.

You will also notice before a lot of attacking moves Jake is getting us to a position on the field and gets a quick play the ball. To a casual viewer people may bemoan him taking a one out hit up without trying to bust the line but it is actually a team directive. Its about organising us.

He organises us a lot in attack and defense.

But yes, his personal output is quite a way down, he isnt busting tackles and breaking the line but that doesnt mean he isnt a net postive impact on the team.

Less minutes, yes
Less money next contract, yes
No good, a plodder, should retire.....not for me

Is that really enough? Especially on 1 mil a year. Im okay if he stays but his contract should be considerably lower. I do think the game has passed him by.. its too fast for him. His defence doesnt get rewarded in the modern game. His play the ball is quick but he hasnt really moved us forward much.. just feels like a wasted tackle when he hits it up. 400k is fair for what he offers. Hes been paid overs for quite a long time in my opinion.

I'm getting pretty sick of the NRL turning a blind eye to the attacking player raising their forearm into the tackler's face and pretending that it is an "accident".

Guys get 10 in the bin for a brush to the nose that bounces up off the ball but a full Luke O'Donnell face smash goes through to the keeper. Pisses me off.

Bang on, mate. It stinks to high heaven when they justify the soft calls against defenders tapping anywhere above the shoulders, but then choose to ignore the actions of the attacking players with the ball. Give me a break. It’s as bad as Laury telling me King is a better choice than May on form… 🙄

Well, as stated, less money next contract. It is what it is for this and next year.

The hope would be decreased minutes could lead to increased output.

I know it probably gives your ego a boost, but ever think about taking a break from being the morally superior arbiter of what’s acceptable? I’m sure “women folk” would be unacceptable to someone, so best make sure your own house is in order before projecting onto others. Have a good day, and try to smile every now and again, the world will probably survive without your moral policing for a few hours.
I’m not having a go at you personally, nor am I trying to project superior values onto others, but…

Recently, I read some damning statistics about violence (of all kinds) against women and one of the solutions in working towards lowering those statistics was to call out low level misogyny, that contributes to a problematic culture of how men see women in society.

No one is suggesting that a few lighthearted jokes are in any way in line with violence, just that it contributes to a broader culture where women’s bodies are objectified (there’s been some strange digressions in threads about women’s bodies recently) and gender stereotypes are used to insult and put down.

For a lot of men, it’ll stop at the objectification or stereotyping. For others, it conditions the way they see women in society and can contribute psychologically to the committing of horrific offences.

For this reason, I encourage @SeaEagleRock8 to keep calling it out. We all need a reminder sometimes that what seems harmless to us, might not be so harmless for others. We have to think about what sort of culture we want to build as men in society.

All great points, Disco, but all very dependant on not being knocked unconscious on the field. That's the only part of his demise that worries me.
