Jake T.

This is not a pop at Jake and I'm aware by pulling this thread I'm inviting a bunch to have a pop.

This is more a Seibold complaint.

We have all be advocating a move to prop for Jake but you cant be playing him 72 minutes in the front row.

20 too many especially with Bully only getting 35.

Well you see there's two schools of thought out there:

every other rugby league coach in the universe thinks giving their aging props between 40 and 50 mins a game is the max, and

Seibold thinks 70+ mins isn't a problem.

🤦‍♂️

Jake is not likely going to age like a fine wine. He may need to consider retirement after the end of next season or having a stint for his last couple of years in the English super league. Unfortunately sad but likely very true, The NRL is hell of a tough game.

Next season is going to be a hell of a time.

I don't think Jake is finished as an NRL player, Siebold needs to use him better. Ridiculous minutes in the front row where he tackles himself into a standstill is just stupid. He would probably come alive again playing half the minutes.
Agree with this. The guy played SOO last year - albeit with limited minutes. I don’t think you go from playing SOO to entire career over in a few months. He needs to play less minutes, like he did in SOO and IMO, he has lost a little bit of desire with this DCE thing. I get the impression he’s a bit p!ssed off at DCE and finding it hard to commit as much as he normally would. Just my impression and I could be wrong on that.

The problem was with our bench players in the Cronulla match. We had Bully and Brown, who are used in short stints, and Waddle, who is not up to first grade standards. Then we had Clayton who is an outside back.
Jurbo had to play long minutes as prop to compensate.

We'll have to wait to next season to see.

The gamble Seibold took was selecting Faulalo instead of Gordie.
He was clearly concerned he might need an outside back replacement (reasonable) and didn't want to rely on Burbo to hold the Shark centres (also reasonable)
Probably combined with the fact he is not too impressed with Gordie as an NRL level dummy half sub. (probably also reasonable!)

However he could still have got more minutes from Jazz, Bull, Brown and Waddell who all did OK v Penrith.. but he didn't. Unreasonable!

I just did some rough calculations. By my reckoning, Tent has missed at least 76 matches since he debuted in 2018, and played 123. Of course, he is also going to miss the rest of this season.
I have always known Tent has potential, but he is so injury prone that we are wasting space for him.
