Jake Arthur

Watched Jake play the two trial games and I am of the view his long term future in the game is in the forwards.

The coaches and development team got him over as a lock forward however they haven’t tried playing him there, that leg injury hasn’t helped his speed and it looks to me that it’s time for Jake to be given a chance there.
It's probably the likelihood that when Walsh makes the step up into NSW cup, they'll move Jake Arthur into the lock role.

I'd expect him to be playing in the halves until at least Origin, to prepare him for DCE cover. No way DCE plays Origin in 2026, so his guaranteed time in the NRL is gone, and his only pathway from then would be in the forwards. Walsh would probably have had quite a bit of time playing League in Flegg by then, and could act as the backup half.

I wonder how long before Arthur ends up in a team coached by his Dad again…whether that’s a new NRL franchise or a club in England.

There’s a bit of the Flanagan’s about the Arthur’s. Both Kyle and Jake are slowish halves, short on talent, but good trainers and competitors. They’re fringe first graders and their best opportunity is playing under their Dad, where they’re given the freedom to be no frills.
