It's a "Big year" or "Bust" for Aloiai !!

First Grader
Every now and then Aloiai comes up with a strong game....even a couple in a row.
But I'm gunna call it straight up, has been very disappointed with majority of his time at Manly.
He had that enforcer type of image based on some tough rugged games for the battling Tigers and seemed a likely leader of the pack when he came to Manly on good dollars and seemed set to raise the bar.
I reckon for him to be jumped by a few, including older new signings in 2025, is great to light the fire under his backside and hopefully add some extra mongrel and hunger to his game.....I reckon he has some solid if not great attributes and needs to produce in 2025, or face finding a new club imo....and the kind of dollars he is on now will be hard to find based on a bloke struggling to make a dent at NRL level and be more a handy depth player.
I wish im well in 2025, but if the imrovement is not there, I feel we will likely move on from 2026 and beyond, so the ball is in Josh's hands and I hope he can make some impact and play to his potential.

I think there's a few in this boat!

We need to be more ruthless in the way things are done on and off the field at Manly
We dont keep any Passengers or take any Prisoners
In a Ruthless World We need to be Ruthless to Reign Supreme
We need to Make The Manly Sea eagles Great again !

The issue for Aloiai is his greatest asset at the Tigers was leg speed. He was high energy, quick over the ground and had a good bump...then came the knee and shoulder injuries. He's slowed down and lost his greatest weapon. The ceiling has been lowered somewhat. He can still do a job but he's a benchie every day of the week.

He has had a few good games for us but not enough to justify the investment we made in him. I hope he does come good this year. If he played to his potential conaistently he'd be a huge asset.

He was obviously no AFB - but when he first came to Manly he was clearly the fastest in the pack when it came to "playing the ball"

As you say, age and injuries have slowed him down.

Josh Aloiai was known for his strong physicality and potential, when he joined the club.

He has struggled to harness his abilities into impactful performances on the field for the club, leading to criticism regarding his form and fitness.

If he was playing at the level he is getting paid to play there would be no discussions about his role and future within the team.

How did he get extended last year, 2023 and 2024 he was well below expectations.

I never bag players that play for our club. If they are good enough to play even a few games of first grade for us, then I’m a fan and thankful that they try for their careers and our club.

But this guy, I will never accept as being a Sea Eagle. He’s never had the clubs best interests at heart, and doesn’t influence the players in a good way.

Can’t believe we extended his contract.

I think Josh, along with Olakuatu and Brown, are the only forwards that bring aggression to our pack.

I’m kinda happy we re-signed lodge I think we need his size and aggression. I hope he comes good along with Josh.

Jazz has got it in him I hope he delivers.

I think its almost part and parcel of the media selling of the game now days, the find the big prop to talk it up.

Had some big games. But He hasn't been consistent.

My big concern. I thought he really looked like he slowed up to a snails pace mid way through last year.

He's Rehabing surgery in the off season yeah? So might be a different man.

But right now Let's play blokes Likee Toff who are at least currently able.

The sauce will get his chance when and if he deserves it. Such is our depth.

Had the pleasure of meeting Pat Carrigan over the last few days.

I must say, he is articulate, polite and seemed quite intelligent on the few conversations I had with him.

On the field, he is enormous and is one of those players that gives 100% every game.

If we are serious of getting a premiership then it’s quality props we are missing, and he would be my number 1 pick.
