Is Williame the new Matai?

Just watched the replay - so good to finally have one worthy of replays - Hex flattened Duges in the 65mins as well as Widdop in the first half.

Brayden, the Beast of Brookie has awakened

is he the new Matai ? .... no of course there is only one Steve Matai ... but if he tries to, and succeeds even 75% ... then he will be a great replacement

Was the easiest thing in the world to jump on a bandwagon and bag a kid who was playing in very ordinary sides and losing each week. Zero analysis of what was actually happening. Kids make errors but for the ones with talent they learn from it.

We had people on here making excuses for Stewart as he threw another pass to Williame to avoid collision and at the same time bagging the **** out of this kid.

On the other hand look closely at each game and the improvement was so obvious. He is a kid learning. Will be a good first grader for us for a long time.

The abuse heaped on this kid was pretty average. He never would of made it to first grade if he was that bad.A bit of self confidence goes along way.

Seems he is truly following in th footsteps of the great Skivvy Matai. Williame is facing a one week ban for a shoulder charge from last nights game.

If he grows some hair and puts it into corn rows he will look badass and that will certainly help...he seems a bit too nice to be the next Matai!

Sea Eagles outside back Brayden Wiliame is in danger of missing his side's Round 19 match with the Warriors after being cited for a shoulder charge by the NRL match review committee in his side's big win over the Dragons at Brookvale Oval on Monday night.

With Wiliame's 66th minute shot on Josh Dugan deemed a grade one shoulder charge, a previous good record means an early guilty plea would see the former Parramatta player miss just one week following Manly's final bye of the season in Round 18.

If he disputes the charge at the NRL judiciary and is found guilty, Wiliame would sit out two weeks

Comparisons are useless but its worth noting that Matai was no world beater early on his career and copped heaps of criticism for his pace and defence in particular (from memory). He went on to prove everyone wrong so Williame may do the same.

He is developing nicely. Interesting that he said he feels more comfortable at centre and that he hasn't played a lot of wing. Widdop and Dugan were flattened by the Army.;-)

I remember Matai used to be a very average player when he first debuted back in 2005, it wasn't until about 2008 did he finally start to show how good he is. Maybe the same is happening to Wiliame.
