He mumbles he stutters i cant stand it. In the interview before the game he was great

I'm sure it is to give himself time to think of the answer.

At the opposite end of the scale is our beloved Jake. He is so keen to give answers as he's nice and polite that he just fires in to speaking immediately. lol

Yes, Jake spews our words like a Gatling gun spews out ordnance.

I think he is so used to bias commentary and stuff, that he is definitely buying time to analyse the questions....as the things they ask after the game are at times like trying to get a confession and lead to something else
I think Des is over the way press can pit a spin on what is said to suit their agenda and kind of bocks them and takes the singles

Because Des is in controll. He does it well, very well. Takes emotion right out of the room, slows it down and changes topic and gets the press thinking how he wants.

I'm with you on this one. In normal interviews, Des is fine, but for some reason in the post match pressers he's somewhat hard to understand.

I actually think he's a bit deaf. Press conferences are usually an echoey room, crowded with people - classic problem for those starting to be a little hard of hearing. He's also smart enough to deflect a question without pretending frailty.
Having said that, I watched my father feign deafness for decades whenever Mum asked him to do something.

Keep in mind he is dealing with NRL "journalists" during the pressers.
Those we despise the most.

I hope his brain health is good as he did play in the Steve Folkes era and they were tough times even for a half / utility like Des. He is certainly a smart man.

On a slightly related note I loved reading about Sirro going full carnivore in today's smh photographed with a whole carcass over his shoulders, got me thinking Des might be bringing back the calves blood. Narabeen has turned into a slaughterhouse, hopefully we can move that to Brookie!

True but it's to give himself time to measure his replies....Des in control.

Speaking of which, this reminds me of Gus. Notice, particularly when under pressure and is asked difficult questions, he always says "aye?". The question is repeated, then he answers straight away. Nothing wrong with his hearing....it's all about giving a measured reply, just like Dessie.

Des is all class and wit. He is always in control. For a laugh checkout Seibolds press conference last night. It was a total train wreck.
