Inconsistency

There has been a lot of debate about whether we have really turned a corner or whether the three wins were a bit of a fluke. There is no hard evidence to really support either argument convincingly so all that's left to describe us is the term "inconsistent". I find inconsistency very frustrating because it gets your hopes up. When we stank last year, I knew where we stood...I expected that we would lose most matches. I thought the Cowboys game was a fluke, then I thought we got lucky beating Canterbury on an off day, but when we beat the Chooks, I started to believe, only to have my hopes dashed on Saturday.

I understand that we were lethargic and lacked energy etc. but c'mon...it was the ****ing Dragons for christ sake!!!! I am filthy about yesterday because it was a home game and a chance to show the NRL that we have turned things around and are a force to reckoned with...instead we surrendered meekly to a team that had no more to play for than we did. They had a good attitude and ours stank. We need to develop some killer instinct because yesterday was embarrassing after all the flag waving of the last week.

I'm in the same boat, don't know if we were just flat on Saturday or if we fall into the inconsistent category. We have the team to really challenge but maybe we r still abit inexperienced and immature as a team. You're right though, way to get our hopes up then have the carpet ripped from underneath our feet lol

Consistently bad -----> Inconsistent------> Consistently good------> Manly awesomeness!

(Only Manly reach the last one...obviously.)


So I reckon we're headed in the right direction.

Plus, as weird as it feels typing it....seems like the Dragons are pretty good this year....

Yeah while we were arguing in the first 2 weeks we 'weren't as bad as the scorelines suggested' in our 2 losses...... it's also pretty apparent we weren't nearly as good in the next 3 weeks wins as the scorelines suggested also.

Dragons did run hard I'll agree BUT most of their tries were just soft defence in my opinion. Plus we bombed a few. Our Forwards were outmuscled for sure at times, but no excuses for one on one misses out wide. Centres ( who were great last week ) were a bit atrocious this week I thought.

This team is borderline 8 either way and I think that's what we will get for the rest of the year. Bumpy ride all the way. Buckle up.

I think that the comp is so close this year that if you are slightly off your game then you will be well beaten

Look at the Roosters getting smacked by the Broncos or the Tigers dusting the Cowboys

Inconsistency will be the tag line for this season

Maybe they should be a part of the weekly training schedule!!

It just seemed like something had happened before the game even started and it had a massive effect on the side. Not one of them was 'there' it seemed. That first try (I was initially thinking we were robbed but after watching the reply) was DCEs fault IMO.
Jorge was the only one who had a real go of it. Kelly's defensive efforts out wide were just really really bad. Turbo and those flick behind the back passes.. For mine, they were all mentally so far off where they needed to be. Comes down to the coach/captain getting the players ready and primed for what is coming. I think it's a wakeup call and I expect us to bounce back well next week against the storm.

It's the Dragons...the team coached by Paul McGregor with Josh McCrone as half back and their best player is Josh dugan (speaks volumes) and he didn't even play...When they are leading the competition at round 20 we can imply sarcastically that they are a force to be reckoned with.

If you watched the game, we didn't just lose either, we got thumped 35-10.

Tend to agree with inexperience bit. No doubting the ability of the younger players like Kelly, walker and turbo, sironen , jake but they didn't have a good game collectively which just doesn't happen. I just think how good we will be if these talents stay together for the next few years with more experience. I'm sure good times ahead.

I have a feeling the team listened too much to the media in the lead up to the game about how well they were going, how they had turned the corner, genuine premiership threat etc etc and ended up with big heads and a lack of respect for the dragons. You just can't do that.

As is my tendency, I tend to dissect losses. I'm no master coach, but when it comes Saturday's shamozzle, it hardly takes one.

We allowed them to offload almost at will and they rolled through us like we were the U/8's. The first try was just a joke but the second was a one on one miss. The third was a rush of blood by Frank sprinting out if the line.

These things can be fixed. I don't think we're gone. We won't be top 4 but we can still make the 8 and give plenty of cheek. We are on the improve. Despite Saturday capitulation.

Hope you are bang on, and think you could be. The bit regarding reading the media I think is spot on the money.

The problem is, we have not got that experienced, talented team of Stewart's, Lyon, Matai, Foran, Watmough that would have got pi**ed off 10 down after 10 minutes- then destroy them 40-10.
Instead we have that 1994-95 side of youthful talent that can not (find a way) when under the blow torch...time will be the answer.
This hot/cold form will continue in 2017 with plenty of big wins and poor losses.
The good thing is the fact it's very open and all teams bar 2 or 3 will suffer the same results...and this could well sneak us into the 8.
Credit to Dragons also....would have beaten most teams with that effort.

That 60 point flogging was horrible - against the Sharks too which made it worse. It was famous for King running for a single figure metre gain for the match IIRC.

We also wore a heritage jersey - white with maroon hoops - in the hope of channelling some late 70's magic it seemed. I still struggle to wear that jersey without thinking about that embarrassment.

The roosters game impressed me cause we grinded the match out.Surely that wasn't a fluke,we need to be playing those type of games every week.
