I see Top 4 and expect it

Further to the top 4 situation I know many on here call our coach “ Seidud” but I happen to think he’s a pretty smart coach and he’s built ( still building ) a great football club team ( the system not the players ) around him and while we were all disappointed in the lacklustre signings this year I think he’s possibly pretty happy with whom they’ve added , good , honest, hard workers who will stiffen the defence.

Very much the 2025 is starting to look like “ his team “ and not the team he inherited.

We all have our opinions on the 9 role , and wether Jake should be in the prop rotation and not 13 but I have faith that the footy department has far more knowledge than us so whatever will be , will in fact , be.

Onwards & upwards

Not forgetting that ... Both years he has been in charge has seen his first priority being a matter of securing the likes of Paseka, Ola, Hoppa, Koula, Saab etc ... mission accomplished.

Following that, with only a spare change budget ... he has brought in the likes of Brooks, Talou, Brown, Jazz and Taukeiaho. ... as well as getting some talented juniors like Ontoni Large, Joey Walsh, Simione Laiafi etc

I'm looking forward to seeing who he targets when he has some actual coin to spend ...

Good point.

This could be the last year for one star , although I think he’ll go two more.

But 2027 we could possibly lose two of the big three

When he was signed to coach Manly his first move was to go after Flegler. It didn't happen but it gave me confidence he knew what he was doing and what Manly needed.
As for those signings you mention there was of course the one that didn't work out, young Schu, but at least to his credit Seibold acted pretty swiftly to stem the bleeding.

Top 4 would be the aim, but what I want to see is continuous improvement... Ladder position is important, but so is the manner in which we get there, and how we perform in finals.

2021 was a great sugar hit when we finished 4th... but we got there largely on the back of one of the greatest individual seasons by a player ever, and by flogging bottom 8 sides, in a year where ruck interpretations were notably different. That season did not turn out to be a good foundation for continued success in the following years.

Top four is tough because not only does Manly need to get it together and give their best, we need other strong sides to underperform. There are a few other rosters that can knock on the door when they play their best footy.

Our defence is the obvious barrier to us being a top 4 team.

We have a glaring weakness down our left side especially, Saab and Garrick get it wrong too many times and DCE is more vulnerable now.

I think we need to have 2 x hookers playing and we need them to control our ruck and run from dummy half.

Our other weakness is lock forward, Jake is a great defender without a doubt but with the ball we lack thrust in that position and I would love to see a lock who takes the heat off our 6 and 7.

If you look at our Premiership Years, we did not always end up as Minor Premiers, however, we were always there and about in points for and points against. The best year was 1996, when we averaged 25 points for and just 9 against over 22 games.

Of all the premierships the Sea Eagles have won, we averaged just 12 points against over the entire season compared to 23 points in points for.

If Seibold can get our average points scored against down to 14 at least, this team has the ability to score 23 points+ a game, and then we are in with a chance.

Over the last three years our defence has gone from 25 points a game to just 22 points a game conceded, and you will never win a premiership leaking points like that.

Our Points for is right up there with previous premiership winning years, we just have to tighten the defence.

In the last 3 years, Penrith has averaged 26 points for and just 14 against and that says a lot.

Every one of us on here knows that to do better we have to stiffen our defence.

I think the two “ in’s” this year reflect that , not superstars but hard workers , because let’s face it weve had a few lazy ones around in the last couple of years.
