That game last night has to rival the semi against the Bunnies as the best win we’ve had this decade (excluding the obvious GF in 2011). I’m talking more in terms of the style of victory as well.

You realise that 2013 prelim final win over the vermin was our last finals victory. It's been a long time for this club. Now is the time to rectify that.

We can no longer regard the Manly Sea Eagles as just another team making up the numbers in the top eight.

Their victory over Melbourne Storm in the game of the year on Saturday night is proof they can win the premiership. No more of Des Hasler’s old trick of flying under the radar.

Your columnist had them running 13th in our predictions at the beginning of the year. It’s not that embarrassing because I don’t know of anyone who tipped them to make the finals.

I even know an old member who tossed in his season tickets because he thought they were going to have a horrible year.

We all knew that the Trbojevic brothers could play. We knew DCE was a great halfback. He has been playing wounded since Origin. The big three have gone to another level this year.

Throw in the massive form improvements of front-rowers Addin Fonua-Blake and Marty Taupau. Their edge forward Curtis Sironen is also an outstanding player.

I am a pessimist and tipped us for bottom 4.

But i can feel that we have as good a chance as any if everyone stays on the field.

I always believe we are a chance at finals footy and this year was no different. However I probably didn’t think we were a legit chance at taking the comp out, which we are now. Still think this comp has a lot of twists left. Injuries will play a part moving into the finals and I’m praying we don’t get impacted as we’ve certainly had our fair share of outs this year.

Laurie Daley said last night we were 100-1 at the start of the season but are now 11-1 after beating the Drizzle.

Can’t wait for this Saturday’s game at Brooky.

My only concern is we probably won't make the top 4. We have a tough run in but even if we didn't we're bound to drop a game or 2. And even if we don't we're relying on the roosters or raiders to drop 2 games (we're way behind on f/a) and I just feel it's a bridge too far. If we'd gotten that rabbitohs and dragons game (the one in the gong) like we should have I'd be feeling very confident.

That's been a long climb up his 'power ladder'. At the start of the season, if we won he was saying "Yeah, bubble will burst" but now...!

Plus he's happy with us as he was the only one who tipped us on the experts DT tipping thingie.

1. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (Last week: 2)
For the first time in two years, I've put Manly on top. They are the best team to watch. They defend hard, they compete on every play. DCE and Tom Trbojevic are the best seven-and-one combo in the game.

Tommy is quickly catching Tedesco as one of the best fullbacks in the game. The Sea Eagles are really fun to watch.

They are must-see TV at the moment. - Tell that to the FTA numbnuts!

in more recent times whenever we have had a good win and starting getting talked up, i would see interviews with players who seemed to come across as believing the hype, only to be cut down the next few rounds.

This is what I am still worried about as keeping this intensity up and remaining humble and knowing they still have to improve is a big task.

Let's see how Des manages this over the next few weeks.

I want to see how they back up emotionally and physically from that tremendous match on Saturday.

To win the Comp you need to back up big wins with another win.
