How to F a season in one go

We have the chance to give a middle finger to the media this week. It’s pretty clear they’re desperate for this to be the beginning of the end of our season, they want the fans to boo this weekend, they want the team disconnected. We need to come out and smoke Parra and make it look like nothing happened. If we boo, lose, whatever, the media will love it and use it to bash this team into the ground. I have full faith the team can put on a big performance this weekend and show there is no disconnect, so the fans need to show that too.

This season is really not F’ed unless we let the media’s overreaction win. Losing DCE sucks but we’ve done F all with him there since 2011 anyways and we’ve played many games without him there in that time too. We still have plenty of gun players to keep the team up. It’s not the end of the world like it’s being made out to be. The sooner we all realise that the sooner the media won’t be able to bury us.

The team might get up for this one but as the season drags on and a few losses start to inevitably pile up the pressure will mount on everyone at the club. The NRL is close and it doesn't take much for a team to be just a bit off and end up getting beaten by anyone. This fxcken noise is going to be distraction all season and because of that it is a bit naive to think that this won't affect team morale and get in players heads. How can a club captain quitting with allegedly not having anywhere to go, not affect them? Let's checkout @Woodsie optimism survey now? We've been served a shxt sandwich and we're only 3 rounds in ..... it's fxcked.

Speaking of French:

AU REVOIR? DCE’S FRENCH REVOLUTION

French Super League club Catalans Dragons could be the final stop for Manly champion Daly Cherry-Evans.

Sport Confidential understands Cherry-Evans is open to a move to France - not Bondi - in the wake of the Brookvale contract bombshell that has shaken up the NRL player market.

The 36-year-old was expected to finish his career at Manly but his decision to leave the Sea Eagles at season’s end is set to trigger a poaching frenzy.

The Roosters are considered the red-hot front-runners to secure Cherry-Evans for 2026-27, but the Queensland Origin skipper has revealed he is considering a move overseas.

That has opened the door for Catalans, who have become a destination club for Australian NRL stars looking to sample European culture in their twilight years before retirement.

Former NSW Origin stars Greg Bird and James Maloney relished the French lifestyle and Catalans’ 2025 squad currently boasts a number of Australians

Among the Aussie contingent are Nick Cotric, Reimis Smith, Tariq Sims, Tevita Pangai Jr and Luke Keary, who quit the Roosters at the end of last season.

It’s understood Cherry-Evans’ wife Vessa has links to Keary’s partner Amy, with the Manly skipper open to taking their three kids overseas for a European adventure.

However, Cherry-Evans’ former Queensland Origin teammate Corey Parker is adamant the Maroons maestro will play on in the NRL next season for the Roosters.

“I believe the deal is done. I believe Daly Cherry-Evans will go to the Roosters,” Parker said.

“If you look at the links, Daly’s manager also manages James Tedesco (Roosters captain).

“I’m extremely surprised he is leaving Manly but you don’t make that call if you haven’t got something else lined up.

“He would be a great signing for the Roosters playing alongside Sam Walker.”

Asked if he will be headed to the Super League with Catalans in 2026, Cherry-Evans said: “I’m not going to chat with other clubs yet. I’ll take my time.

“I’m also not going to engage with any clubs that I couldn’t see myself genuinely playing for so I won’t waste anyone’s time if I decide to play on.”

If Cherry-Evans returns to Queensland, there’s only one Sunshine State club in the race - the Dolphins.

Titans coach Des Hasler is backing his current halves, while the Cowboys and Broncos don’t have the salary-cap space to afford Cherry-Evans.

Broncos skipper Adam Reynolds is expected to retire at season’s end but Maguire is putting his faith in Ben Hunt, Ezra Mam and teenage halfback Black.

On a positive note, his first and final departure (and please, stay away Daly) can be seen as the final denouement of the de-Fultonisation process*. Brought to you by Peter Peters and the Penn clan.

*Apart from BOZE, we should all be happy about that.

Chez did give a “shout-out” to Birdy during his interview the other night… 🤔

Welcome to the modern NRL entertainment $product$ ... I loved it when it was football and you were loyal to your team mates, coach and club(fans).
Yep although to be fair to the players there are plenty examples of them being on contract and being shopped around etc

yep, I was commenting more about what NRL has become rather than individuals, and yes some clubs have shopped players but not usually long term players at the top end

A lot to agree with here I reckon. I am highly confident the team will want to make a Unity declaration, and indeed hopefully might put a real hurting onto the sqEels. It's "as the season goes on" that worries me, especially if there might be some papered-over divisions or worse, resentments, in the coaching/playing group.

Id be happy with that i.e. going to France not the chooks. Especially if comes out and confirms it and states full focus for this year is winning a GF ( his call on SOO - no issue with that) and club states they're working on a succession plan.

I have a terrible feeling about Sundays game , this will galvanise the Eels and potentially split our side.

There’s no way we should lose the game
