How to F a season in one go

It's not unreasonable that DCE won't know until later in the year whether he even wants to go around again.
Also not unreasonable that Manly needs to know sooner than later, because he's halfback and captain and they need to plan ahead.
But...(!) how is it reasonable for the player to unilaterally announce this on channel 9, while the CEO and owner are sending frantic offers via fox tv?
It looks the opposite of professional and for Manly fans like me, makes both parties look awful!
Just when I was getting ready to enjoy the season, oh well 😵 🤷‍♂️@
Agree with this. An awful look for Cherry-Evans , the Club, and so deflating for all the hitherto dedicated supporters.

Mate even the staunchest dce supporters are agreeing this smells like s$&@ at his end. I’m a fan and wanted him to stay (not ruling out he won’t yet given his past behaviors) but the way this has rolled out is ordinary. Not saying the club are without sone level of fault here, but the way he’s conducted himself so far seems pretty poor.
It smells like sht because Manly management has turned this simple contract case into an over cooked casserole
This contract resolution was Simple.
really ?
Yes !
We all know It was all about the money
If you do not want to come to terms with the players Market Value
You come out and face the media . You thank the player for their Manly contribution and its all done in a diligent and professional and respectful manner and you look the Goods .
Some how the Manly Management do not look so good after failing to successfully close the deal or this long and unnecessary case

Shades of 2011 when everyone took pay cuts to stay together but Lil Princess threw his toys out the cot and wanted more. Goodbye DCE. Thanks for always looking out for yourself only.

When he would've been on "nothing" and the others already cashed up 🤷🏻‍♂️

If DCE has any decency he will come out and say as this year is my last year in Maroon and White I want to give it my all and stand down from Origin.

To go off on another 6 week mid season mind and body draining escapade then it’s just rubbing salt in the wounds
In some parallel universe maybe - where up is down and left is right

It’s only March there was plenty of time remaining to go through discussions on a new deal, the club haven’t had the chance to be on the front foot and have a press conference on this as the club captain (hopefully to be relieved of club captaincy ASAP) decided to announce this through his media links on a tv programme.

Sounds more like a tantrum from DCE to me.

Players managers approach clubs well before the end of their clients contract end
Mestrov had a long time to think of all these current consequences
But he has proven to be a reactive manager and not a proactive manager

I'm happy to move on from DCE. Manly will live on, the same as when other good players have gone. He's running the same selfish show as last time, he lied then, he's lying now, then the owner comes in late with offers so he doesnt get blasted by fans, like last time, what nonsense. Let him walk, we can use his money for the team, not him. Thanks for the years Daly, you made us reasonably competitive and in return you are very well off, a couple of last seasons at the roosters at 1.1 will leave you with a happy retirement.

Not us send U off U send us off with a Premiership then we'll call it even. Blood Sweat & Tears 16yrs 300+ games. You'll always b a club legend but the way this ends they'll b some animosity between fans. DCE should play for another years then join the coaching staff and take over Seib in the very near future. He has played under some of our best coaches and will become our best ever coach in my view.

Mestrov: We haven't lowballed. The first formal offer was this morning but during the ongoing discussions, there was no lowballing at all. There's no such thing as a lowball figure. We wouldn't do that, we respect Daly too much.

Mestrov: He's irreplaceable but we knew this day would come. We have some exciting young talent and other plans... Like any club you have to move on and we're content with where we are.

Mestrov: It's healthy Daly has got it out now given the last two weeks. It had the propensity to derail the year but now it's galvanised the squad.

Mestrov: It's a shock to everyone else, but not necessarily to us. We wanted to give him his space... I don't think it looks like a knee jerk reaction. If he chooses to go to another club, he can go to another club... We think we've put forward a very strong offer.

Mestrov: The offer is there for a coaching position. We wouldn't offer a coaching position if there was any animosity.

Mestrov: Maybe we could have done (the offer) in a better way and in-house... I'm not shying away, we don't shy away from anything.

Mestrov: We'll discuss internally how long we'll wait to move on. We obviously have plans in place to replace Daly but I don't want to get into those today. We've known this day would possibly come.

Mestrov: Never say never. Let's hope he reconsiders. We've put it to him and his manager and we'll wait for an answer back.

Mestrov: We discussed a one-year extension in October but nothing was formally tabled. We discussed the two year deal with his manager and that it wasn't a knee jerk offer.

Mestrov: We weren't blindsided. He's still not sure what he's going to be doing. I wasn't blindsided, he told us this in December, we just didn't want to tell the broader media. We respected him but what happened is the media has fast-tracked the situation.

Mestrov: I thought he did well last night. He spoke from the heart... There's no animosity.

Mestrov: As far as we're concerned, Daly isn't certain what he wants to do. He's got a coaching offer from us.

Mestrov: I want to make this point. There's no animosity with Daly. There is no problem with Daly and the club, with me or the coach.

Mestrov: We did make him an offer yesterday with his manager. It was a two-year offer so it wasn't a knee-jerk reaction.

Mestrov: If Daly does play in the NRL, we want him to play for the Manly Sea Eagles.

Shades of 2015, thanks for the memories DCE but if this is true and you have torpedoed our season in Round 3 for a few extra dollars after we have provided you a gold mine over the last decade then IMO good riddance.

We have Jake Arthur then Joey Walsh/Large in the wings wait for an opportunity.

If DCE and his Manager are playing media games then F you as well- did it in 2012 and then again 2015 agitating for money .

Anyway that’s my rant
It was 2014, I remember it well, sadly.

Someone, whether it's Mestrov and Penn, or DCE, is lying.

I don't think Mestrov is stupid enough to not give DCE an offer.

If DCE is lying, let him walk now. He doesn't deserve to get anywhere near Beaver's record. As it stands, if he plays Origin, and every game he can in the NRL, he gets 350 in the last game of the year. He beats Beaver to rub this **** in.

Disgraceful.
Don't play him! Simple!! He doesn't deserve it!

Yep.. exactly as I thought DCE only looking after DCE and then pretending it's all been so hard.. such a difficult decision.. what a load of BS..he told the club in December "im either retiring or going overseas"????.. i can't even cheer for this guy now

Mate , he’s all about himself , he doesn’t really give a **** about us fans

If Mestrov and Co had any smarts they would have closed this case a long time ago
But instead they let it drag on and on up until round 3 and frustrated DCE ., Inflamed the Media and broke the fans and clubs spirit . This is the impact that This Manly Management decision is having for all who have eyes that can see
Mestrov failed to close the deal and the contract case form turning into a chaotic mess
Manly management are accountable for the way they conducted this contract .
DCE was the receiver
He told the club in December

"I'm either retiring or going overseas".. what would you have them do.. handcuff him to the grandstand..

Guys a deceitful grub in my eyes.. forever tarnished.

OR

The club accedes to his wishes of not wanting to decide if he goes on for longer until 2025, and then gets totally blindsided by the Diva doing Diva stuff.

Oh I know you’ll have a smart comment in reply but just remember, it’s not always as it seems in the media. Cherry Evans is playing this beautifully ( as he always does ) he’s a master at the game.
