Well after the shock waves are over in next few days. It'll be time for the NRL team to grow up and have a real good crack at winning the GF this year. Because it'll be their only chance for a few years.

Also Arthur's and Walsh have free reign to work their buts off to get the gig next year.

If all works out could potentially be a long term blessing. Especially if DCE shows the young guys the ropes.

I'm DCE biggest supporter but if he has kept the club in the dark and already signed elsewhere i would drop him..
He's basically F@#ked our season and if he runs out in another NRL jersey in 2026 and beyond he will be sticking the knife into every true Manly supporter every time he plays.

Think the club has stuffed up not just giving him the 2 years months ago. All this last minute desperation by offering him 2 years live on NRL 360 is kind of embarrassing and a bad look for the club.

That being said DCE making this whole situation as public as it is has the opportunity to derail the season. Its a huge distraction now and creates so much uncertainty within the playing group and club as a whole.

We just wrapped up round 3, if the season derails from here we’ll know why. Would’ve hoped the club captain for a decade would’ve been more professional about this situation but whatever i guess.

I see no reason to sacrifice the last season in a while that we will have an actual opportunity to compete because Chez did not sign another contract (that the club were obviously not in a hurry to get it done anyway)

Make hay while the sun shines because next year we end up with Tom at 6 (which we all thought was a joke when Seibs floated it but it is starting to make a LOT of sense why he did now)

What I gather is mostly from what he said tonight and reading between the lines. If DCE told the club in December he wasn’t playing on with the club after this season why would they make him a priority target??? 🎯

I think the cap space created will enable us to build the team more effectively? As I said we have cover in Arthur with young ones on the way up (similar to when DCE started back in 2011). He has failed to deliver another premiership after that and to be fair the past 10 years have arguably been our worst in terms of performance (making Finals/GrandFinals/Premierships) since the 1940s believe it or not.

Anyway he is gone to either Phins or Chickens - he has tarnished his legacy despite the 300 plus games

Crikey I hope they look at other options outside Arthur, I don’t think he is up to it.

If Jerome Hughes resigns at the Storm it’s either Wishart or Pezet that has the option to go.

It's not unreasonable that DCE won't know until later in the year whether he even wants to go around again.
Also not unreasonable that Manly needs to know sooner than later, because he's halfback and captain and they need to plan ahead.
But...(!) how is it reasonable for the player to unilaterally announce this on channel 9, while the CEO and owner are sending frantic offers via fox tv?
It looks the opposite of professional and for Manly fans like me, makes both parties look awful!
Just when I was getting ready to enjoy the season, oh well 😵 🤷‍♂️

What annoys me most is letting Humphreys go because his sport in First Grade was being blocked by DCE.
If DCE knew he was leaving at the end of the season and didn't inform the club then this is diabolical treatment of the club he professes to love.
I'll reserve my judgement until the 'facts' are known.

Breakdown in communication, trust, respect.
It's hard to imagine what would justify DCE going public like this while the club clearly taken by surprise, yet also hard to imagine club and player aren't both to blame.
As a supporter it's pretty disappointing to say the least. The traditional way is that contract stuff is sorted out of the public glare, to maintain the illusion for the benefit of we fans. The bastards shattered that (not for the first time!)

What annoys me most is that DCE' Manager was opened to Negotiations all last season and Mestrov could not close the deal . Mestrov did not want to come to terms with DCE;s Elite Market Value .
He wanted to offer him a Brooks cut price contract and DCE clearly is no Brooks .
We can also see how that was a diabolical treatment for their club Captain
