The Australian team got well beaten by a team that can really play rugby properly; hence the abject boredom. The aussie team has been more like a rugby 7s team with some extra players and have been fun to watch at times. But they tried to be a bit more serious in this one and paid for it (as they can't ruck or scrummage like they are supposed to). They missed beale too; now there's a guy who could be great in league.
Rugby is like league years ago: it is suffering from increased professionalism, power training, and performance in defence (from league coaches). So now they have 15 players, usually about 1 metre back from the ruck, who can all tackle alot better than they used to. It's like wozzaball with 2 extra defenders, and they are all permanently off-side. no wonder it's boring as....
If they institute a 5 or 10mtrs back from the ruck rule, they'll be playing a version of league where the scrums still matter (ie. they will have made it to the late 1970s-80s).
