Been the same for a decade or more , bar one exceptional ( Tommy) year.

I reckon it’s almost a blow up the whole thing , complete change in the footy department , complete rebuild of players ( zero loyalty , keep the hot juniors , buy the next line of hot juniors , buy one or two real top line players and try and build around them).

Be prepared to have 2-3 really lean years , as long as we are seeing improvement.

BUT it all comes down to the Penn’s, if they are happy with their ROI as it stands then I doubt they are prepared to tip in big dollars for this to happen.
2 To 3 lean years, thats a lot to ask from a jaded and dispirited supporter base as passionate as ours. At a pinch, we could probably hangout for 1yr maybe.

I know , but there’s just no way that it would all come together in year 1.

And remember you have Perth & PNG wanting 60 players.

NOT, going to be easy

I mean, we're closing in on 15 lean years. I could cope with a couple more if there was any sense our problems were being addressed. It's the slow drift of our club to rugby league irrelevance that's killing me.

I agree with you. It really is in the only way. I'd put up with a few lean years because it's not as if we are setting the world on fire with what we are doing now. We're already probably heading into "lean" years territory anyway now. Only caveat is that we have need people at the top who know what they are doing and that's probably the issue with Manly, we just don't have that. The Bulldogs got away with it because of Gus Gould and very cashed up benefactor

We aren't like the Tigpies tho REG, we wouldn't be able to cope with getting a wooden spoon. When you think back to our golden period and what has passed since, we've just been missed guided and missed managed for 15 yrs.

Getting smashed by the Roosters at home, with additional injuries, looks like the end of us for this year. I give us 0% chance against the Raiders next week, I honestly dread to imagine what our second row might look like. From there the only games that look reasonably winnable are Tigers and Dragons but both are Away and I think our recent Away record against the Dragons especially is pretty weak. Mad Monday is our next stop.

Things are looking up. We now have an 8% chance of making the 8.

Lord the games we lost to the Tigers, Knights, titans, eels and dragons are the games that show the mental fragility of the team and why we miss the 8
I said that exact thing in another thread it's really 8 points we should have got and we would of been easily in the 8 fighting for possibly top 4 but we didn't and you can't be a genuine top 8 side losing to those bottom teams.

It's major missed opportunity this year not necessarily to win the thing but at the very least be in the 8.

Even just beating the Knights who we led 16-0! That alone puts us even with easts now!

I hate how Manly have given us hope again haha.
We need to win both our games.

Roosters can easily lose their last two.

They have Storm in Melbourne next week without Walker. Grant will be missing for Melb though.

Then the final round they have the Rabbits who have plenty to play. AJ record in sight and Trellmit should back to ruin the Roosters top 8 chances.

Dolphins just need to lose one game

8. Roosters 28 points (v Storm in Melb, v Souths at home) are on f/a of +72 which will drop if they lose both games.

9. Dolphins 26 points (v Titans at Lang Park, v Raiders at Redcliffe) are on f/a of +81

10. Manly 26 points (v StG away, v NZ at Brookie) are on f/a of +4

11. Wests 24 points (v Cows at home, Raiders & Titans both away) are on f/a of -107

The f/a can easily change given the points avalanches that can easily come in modern NRL games, especially near the end of the season if a team just loses hope & gives up.

Manly are probably well & truly no hope if next weekend Dolphins beat Titans and Manly lose to St George.

If Manly lose it's all over.
Only way to get ahead or Roosters is we win our last 2 and they lose the last 2
And even if that happens Dolphins could knock us out if they win both
