Hoppa "MUST" be in the 17

Watching over a few 2024 games and Hoppa in his debut season was nothing short of outstanding.
Has every quality to be the Best Hopoate to put on a Manly jersey and I realise he is still young and has time to grow.....but I really feel he has to find a position in the 17, it's a hard juggle from 2,3,4 and 5 at Manly....especially debate over Garrick back to wing or centre.....with his silky hands and evasiveness, Hoppa can handle every position from fullback, winger or centre.
If he is not a starter, which seems a decent chance right now, I find a spot for him on the bench.....what are the thoughts Silvertails, as this will become a healthy debate from pre season to early season.

Was very much man handled in the final against the dogs. This needs to be somewhat addressed.
We are however in a great position to have an option like this.

Not sure he would balance the bench if he didnt start. Start or wait for me . Wont be long before someone gets hurt and with schooup, clayton f, ray ray, and the new geezer the competition in reggies should keep him sharp

Just dont see us running with a genuine outside back on the bench unless we are injury ravaged, at least not one that light

For all our stars our backline looks clunky at times so no one is guaranteed if he carves em up in the little league. Hoppas first 6 weeks regardless of grade will be mega. If he goes back you really want him to carve it up

Outstanding season debut Indeed and his Progress towards his unlimited Potential must not be stalled

Hopefully will be part of the top 17.
But unfortunately I don't see him being at Manly long term, good old dad will make sure of that and have him signing the highest offer and moving around various teams during his career.

Like to be wrong on that but the track record of the family says otherwise mostly because of dad.

Happy to have him starting or on the bench ... but IMO he didn't excel for Tonga at fullback when up against the upper tier of opposition.

He will get there ... he is a huge talent ... but how he is manged will be important ..

Injuries will play a big part in his role for the team this year.

It's a wonderful decision to have.

The way the game is these days I'm actually all for an outside back on the bench. Particularly if you have a Jazz on the bench that can cover hooker at a pinch.

I'd be looking at Talau on the bench and give him a bit of the off season training on the edge.

I dont disagree but i see it as a horses for courses approach. An outside back as a replacement and then a roving fwd works if your a team that plays with momentum. You possibly need that momentum in the 55 min plus part of the game and im not sure we are that team.

I dont also see hoppa and a hooker on the bench together and hooker, in the ruck area is where we need more improvement

Its viable to a point if injuries strike and its a best 17 approach and its not a major sticking point for me either TBH, hoppa looks pretty decent but they will be on him in 25 , no under the radar

I dare say Hoppa will be putting on a few Kgs over the off season. He knows he needs to put the size on and the dogs game definitely showed this.
This kid is a generational talent and a pure footballer. Way too good not to be starting IMO. It’s a great problem to have so many top line players in one back line.
I think Seibs might have Talau on the bench or back to NSW cup.

Agree, he'll be working hard this off season.
Plus he will get better throughout the season. 100%

Straight into the starting team for me.

Agree. I reckon he comes in for saab. Hoppa is an out and out footballer with great games awareness. Saab is a great athlete with zero game awareness.
