Yes. They need to be given a chance for sure. I particularly like Cullen as have seen him a lot but he is a half. It amazes me on here sometimes how people talk about our depth at hooker. We have no specialist hookers at our club. None.

Cullen is a talented all round footballer and can adapt to the role. Wish him well. If he gets only 10 or 15 minutes on Saturday that will just about finish it re Barrett.

Korisau is a joke at 9 yet here we are still running him on for a second season. The other great dud at 9 is Leisha and look at the Dogs now. Can't score a try since Ennis left. It's not f..in rocket science.

Fix the problem at 9 and you will see a good football side let off the leash. The talent is there .

Manly in my opinion are lacking in a key area at the moment and that is danger around the ruck. Trent Barrett is attempting to change Api Koroisaus game by making him a non running number 9 which I think is just plain stupid. Not the idea of a non running hooker but the idea of changing Api Koroisau into a non runner which is one of his best attributes. And why the hell let Matt Parcell go if you want a non running hooker. Parcell had quality ball service and solid defence though he lacked confidence to run and less mongrel than Api but surley if Barrett wants a non runner he sticks with Parcell. I love what Api brings to the table also but his ball service yesty wasn't good enough, last year I could live with it because he was new and had injuries but now he's had a full off season with us. And I don't think Hastings is the answer either. We need to go out and find a new dummy half and a new coach. Barretts plans make no sense, and I don't want him gone because of us losing, I want him gone because he's got absolutely not clue when it's comes to building a team. Get Cullen on the bench for spark and go out and find a high profile hooker.

Good question, pjayz. I actually like the look of Joey Lussick. Like Cullen and Hastings he's played a lot in the halves, but he was switched to hooker at the Roosters, I think, and has more experience in that position than the other contenders.

We need a dummy half that is willing to make a few runs, that's what I liked with Parcell, he saw a chance he went for it. Api is standoffish in attack, a big fast hit up followed by a dummy half bolt would be ideal with this side. We have the speedy support players and powerful forwards (not this week for the forwards) so this could just set us on fire. I think Cullen is our best chance

My comment related more to the stupidity of stating that Barrett doesn't want a running hooker, or that that was the reason Parcell was released.

But to respond to your question, I would probably have parcel in front of the other 3 at this stage, simply on experience. Who will end up the best rake between Hastings, Cullen and Lussick is too hard for me to predict. I am certain each will have their strengths and weaknesses just as Api does.

It's interesting to know that the best running hooker in the NRL, Jake Granville, started out as a fullback. Just shows you that speed matters, in any position. That was why I was so pleased we signed Parcell last season, who was explosive and a known tryscorer. While he didn't set the NRL alight in his rookie season he was bound to improve this year, and in future seasons. He was our long-term hooker, who was young and talented enough to become one of our 'Big Three' Melbourne equivalent, along with the Turbojet brothers
Just shows you how out of touch I am. Obviously 55 years of watching Manly play is no match for the current retention and recruitment brains trust, who shipped him off to England. I hope they were at least smart enough to guarantee him a spot back at Manly when he becomes homesick.

I can't believe I'm doing this but in Turbo's defence, there were reports on exactly this, and this being the main reason they let Parcell go as he is a runner who will not get that opportunity at Manly. They want the halves to do the organising and the dummy half to simply distribute (similar to the Tigers now that Farah is gone). Now, the report could well be BS, in fact, I'd suggest most reports are, but it could explain why Parcell who in the lower grades, ran and ran and ran, didn't do that last year.

Regardless, I have made my views on Api pretty clear last year, as much as I love his character, toughness and effort, he isn't the 9 we need.

There was a report on the radio actually, one of the correspondents. Again, not saying it's true, just that there was a report which is probably what Turbo was referring to. Not quite sure why this is such a sore point?

There is that, and I suppose people have enough to criticise Barrett for that it irks me when they accept nonsensical rumours and just run with them.
