Hiku won't be able to handle the defensive workload.

It would be ludicrous to throw a kid like Stig into 1st-grade right now; especially in an elimination fight-to-the-death against the Scum or the Dogs.

(I don't even recall Stig having played NSW Cup yet!)

It's never ludicrous to give youth a go,what have we got to lose? as for playing NSW Cup a lot of players infact most players these day's don't play NSW Cup. Charlie HAGGETT made his debut in a semi final.

I agree it's good to give kid's a go (we all start somewhere).

A horror-game in 1st-grade can set a young bloke back badly though.

A horror-game debuting in the cauldron of a sudden-death semi-final could finish a kid's career before it's even truly begun, mate.

Similar things have finished careers of even older blokes @Mavin

Such as Steve MAVIN, and Phil Duke to name but a couple.

It is a 50/50 call he could have a shocker but we just never know. Steve Mavin for example played all season and the first final yet in his second he had a shocker and was hooked. When is anyone ready? I guess Tooves knows the kid (better than me) and will make the call.

Yes agreed @Mavin

(And I wasn't having a go at you). Just a coincidence that the name "Mavin" was relevant to the topic.

He was never the same player after that shocker.

And I think we agree Tooves will know better than any of us what's best to do in the end.

(I simply said what I'd do if it were my call).

Indeed the same as you have!

Shall be interesting to ultimately see what does happen.

I'll just be hoping (and maybe even praying) Matty B comes good.

Come the hour come the man. Put a young guy in and have faith that the jersey will make him a man.

This thread is hilarious, One belting and Tuafua is playing Hooker and Taylor Hoppa and Tom T and in firsts???

Give me a break

If Hodges or Ballin are unavailable then Littlejohn or Stig

Whats funny ??? Bringing these guys up they would probably perform better than whats out there at the moment and they would be excited and would have a dig ! Yes Sigg should come in as Hooker that is his position. The other clubs are playing their juniors and giving them a run. Walker from Souths is only 19. Penrith and Roosters played with an 18 year old and an 19 year old hookers on debut a couple of weeks ago
Players like Johnston were given a run because they were banging down the door, not due to a kneejerk reaction after an embarrasing loss

I have no problem given yougsters a run, I'd bring Stig in at hooker and have Gutherson in for Taufua but a player has to deserve selection not just get in on the assumption that they couldn't do any worse
Kierran Moseley at only 19 made his debut for Penrith against Manly. Jackson Hastings 18 made his debut for the Roosters both played Hookers and both played only a couple of weeks ago and both played well. You should try to play players in their correct position not trying to rearrange a team to accommodate a position and especially a key position, it upsets the team. Could come back and bite Manly on the arse
Ummm Harry I think you are confused, im saying bring Stig in, what I disagree with is bringing in Tom T, Tayler and Hoppa ahead of the rep standard players

Not confused mate If you bring in Stigg they could also bring up the other boys. Who should be Hoppa who can play also as hooker and backrow and Taylor who is a specialised winger, they might need both these extra boys

Littlejohn. Bit of 1st grade experience and doesn't move others out of position.

Warming to this.

Familiar with 1st's patterns and playbook.

Has an okay passing game, being a half/five-eighth.

Big and robust enough to do his job in the ruck for defence.

All still assuming Ballin and Hodges are unavailable.

(And @"Mal Cochrane" here may just be past his prime too, :p )
