And weren't Neumann and Stephenson a couple of the greatest footballers ever to lace up a boot..............not !!! No wonder Des was risk averse when it came to those two nuffies.

If Des opts for Foran and Lyon in the halves then at least see how it goes before you crucify him for being conservative. You'd be the first to jump down his throat if he went for Hodkinson and Foran and it was an abject failure because of their inexperience.

Not playing Stephenson and Neumann except when needed was not be risk averse. It was hoping to concede less than forty points per game of players running through the turnstiles. If Des is risk averse, one needs to find better evidence than those two complaining after they left the club.

Sure Des might not have dropped players when they played poorly for a while.  The main reason for that was the options below were no better, they were actually worse.  If that is being risk adverse then I am happy he is.

Sorry guys - maybe I didn't come across right here. There is a perception out there that Des doesn't give young guys a shot (take the Steppa / Neumann piece out of what I said). I'd love to know how correct that is. I mean, David Williams and Keiran Foran in the past 24 were given their shot, and embraced it.

With that in mind, I think (personally), we need specific players who are specialists in their position playing certain positions.

By having Foran / Hodkinson in the 1/2's, it strengthens other positions in our team as well.

I dont like the idea of two very inexperienced halves. Teams that usually dont have experience in this area struggle big time. It has to be either Foran or Hodkinson at 7 and as much as I dont like it but killer will have to be at 6. Killer may take much more of an active role and turn out to be match winner we need 10 metres out from the opposition line. Orford was very good for manly for his first 3 years but really struggled this year for any impact in attack. Ill be very surprised if Dessie goes with inexperience halves.

Am I Volley?  I was on the money with Orford.  Just how long would you give the new guy by the way?  I'd consider 6 weeks into the season after an off season to get some combinations working.  Anyway, I think either Hodkinson or Foran or Lyon or a combination of any of those guys will go well, so I'm further predicting a quiet posting time from me next year.

Kiwi, it's not that these guys haven't played the game before.  They're professional and have come up through the grades.  I'd think 6 weeks is fine, especially after a three months off season.  After that, then there's room for assessment.  I'm not expecting great things, just be competent and go forward.  After all they're not being paid the king's ransom.    Anyway I feel OK about them having a go, and I'll be nice and quiet for the first half of the season..
