So the club allows there favourite player to develop a gambling addiction. What a disgraceful club.

He is a pelican as well.

Oh dear. Does your workplace monitor where and how you spend your $10 an hour?

Didnt think so.

I am amazed that this didn't come out until now. To put that amount of money in you have to be a serious gambler, and working in a club as I do I can tell you that the people who play like this get noticed. If only so the venue can make sure they are looked after in terms of quick service.

I am highly surprised that some smart arse attendant somewhere hasn't seen the opportunity to get in the local paper by making an issue out of this before now.

Good luck to Hindmarsh, its a hard addiction to break - he is one of the few things about that club that I have any respect for and I sincerely hope he can pull through this well, and potentially use this to help others similarly inflicted.

Rusty its easy to monitor when its all done in a single venue. However when its spread across multiple venues, its not so easy to track.

And lets not forget this was a long time ago. 10 years or so when these things were not so heavily monitored.

That's the law, 90 odd%.

Yes. Its regulated. The manufacturers like Aristocrat are obliged to have a specially built confined area inside the manufacturing facility where the chips (with preset returns) are installed.

The area is monitored, heavily secured physically & electronically with pre qualified staff to prevent unauthosised tampering.

You will find its always 3rd party company that will do the coding, i.e. all the pokies from Jupiter’s casino used to come down to a place in Frenchs Forest. Once recoded they go back to another central location for installation back into to the pokies.

That way no one knew which machine was programmed to payout and when.

Poor Hindy. But it could have been worse. Imagine how much he would have lost had he had a gambling problem betting on Parra to win matches.

Yeah I just read it wad across 6 yeahs as well... which makes it significantly less noticable. Trust me even across multiple venues someone dropping $200K a year is noticed. And I am not talking about government here, but any manager worth his salt can pick a player like that a mile away. 6 years is a different story however, falls closer to the pack t

On a positive note, some of the money he put through the machines has gone to charities and district sporting clubs throughout western Sydney.

And of course a portion of it may well be helping to pay for both Daniel Anderson and Stephen Kearney's severance packages.

What, too soon?

Cheers, thanks for that. Sounds like its all changed now. Aristocrat used to have that facility set up in their own manufacturing premises.
