Have you ever heard of ...

1965 was the year of I started watching Manly at Brookvale Oval. I remember all the players in that team well - 9 were Manly juniors. The import of Queensland internationals Veivers & Day (great running forward) was part of the build up for Manly to make the 1968 GF. McDonnell was from Berry (I think) & Hamilton from Kurri Kurri. It was a great pack with a lot of skill, pace, power & toughness.

I remember all the players in the Parramatta team except the two front rowers. The back line was fairly handy - Brown was a very good goal kicking winger from Queensland. Rushworth was a centre from the country who was selected at age 20 for the 1967 Kangaroo tour to England. Hallas & Lingard were both English internationals. Lingard usually played in the halves and his tackling technique of grabbing an attacking player's arm & flinging him to the ground came to be known as the 'Cumberland throw' - it was later outlawed.

I remember Rex Mossop demonstrating it for the TV sport news, outside the studios on the lawn .... can't remember who the poor bastard was that was getting thrown though

Todd Greenberg has looked at the side side announced and will issue sanctions later in the week claiming that Manly looked like they were well over the cap with players like Batty, Jones nd Hamilton in the side.
No deduction of points but defiantly a reduced cap for not being compliant with Toddy’s rules.
