after watching last night to me it became obvious that we need hastings on the bench over cullen to cover for api. don't get me wrong, i think this kid has a future with us but not at dummy half. his service was very slow last night & i would have preferred a fatigued api over him there - or better still hastings.

Hastings got injured in reserves yesterday, he looked to have dislocated his shoulder or something had been done to his shoulder or neck area, he didnt play again after that.

He wasn't great in reggies.
I believe it is purely a confidence issue ( see Shaun Lane) that a proper go in FG will rectify pretty quickly.

Shoulder was only a burner, apparantly.

Players struggle in reggies as they don't have enough quality players around them to play their natural game

What position was Hastings playing yesterday ? Half ? If he was chief playmaker in a 60 point flogging then you wouldn't say he is kicking the door down for first grade.

I did like some of Hastings efforts off the bench earlier in the year so not sure what has happened to him

Id prefer hastings any day especially at hooker. Cullen is a good running 5/8 but hastings is much better at hooker. Crisp select passings and good kicking game plus an excellent goal kicker and can cover more positions.

I don't know then how you give him confidence.

Play in Reserves and get thrashed.

Or play in first grade for a max of 10 Mins.

Jono Wright was our best in reserves.
Continual cheap turnover of possession killed us, made it impossible to reverse momentum. Very hard to rate individuals when that happens, but Hastings remains a bit weak in defence I think, unless I saw it wrong. Oddly, his dad was a fantastic tackler but unspectacular in attack, Jackson may be the opposite.
