Much easier to show humility in a reflective state when the pressure is off.

Pressure or no pressure one still has to swallow their pride .
When one has a problem with their ego it is never easy to show humility .

You have mentioned one great trait that makes a man great and that is taking responsibility and accountability and this is something that Hastings has taken and Barrett never did .
