Harper To the Squeels?

I remember when Harper first came on to the scene he had a bit of variety where occasionally he'd do a Matt Gidley flick pass for his winger to score. Not sure what happened, but he became a bit too predictable and tried to outrun his man when he didn't have the pace to match. You can't fault his commitment though.

You could never question his commitment and always had a red hot go however not up to a full time gig in NRL. Handy back up and agree not sure Talau is any better. We will find out.

I have NO idea why we acquired Talau?

We have:
01. Tom Trbojevic
02. Jason Saab
03. Tolu Koula
04. Reuben Garrick
05. Jaxson Paulo

But then: 06. Christian Tuipulotu, 07. Ray Vaega, 08. Brad Parker, 09. Tommy Talau, 10. Clayton Faulalo, 11. Matterson.

My view: we should have kept Tuipulotu, upgraded Faulalo onto a league min. contract, and released the rest, money to be used on forwards.

We have a mountain of halves (too many). Assume DCE / Brooks is the 6/7. I think Humphreys is the apprentice for DCE. Brooks got a longer term contract. That leaves Schuster, Croker, Arthur, Matterson that need to find roles, or be surplus. Releasing one / two gives us much needed funds for the forwards (my ideal scenario is GCKT and Arthur are the 9/14 respectively.

That's just too slow (as we've seen) for rugby league these days. We haven't played in finals much at ALL in the last decade, because in my view, the speed of the games moved well past us.

So to fill any gaps (particularly in the forwards), we need to release surplus players, not give contracts to players we love (Croker, Parker, Vaega, Parker, Matterson etc) who are really excess, and maximise our roster by getting marquee, VERY fast and explosive modern day forwards - not guys like Woods, Condon, Lodge - plodders.

I really hope we havent signed multiple outside backs just to run with the same lineup we've had for the last couple of years. Its a lot to invest into blacktown.
