Yep he was my biggest idol growing up in the 70's. Happy birthday Wombat , hope you're fit and we'll. Luv ya work.63 today. Hope you have a great one, you legend.
As a kid growing up in the Eastern Suburbs and going to a primary school full of Easts and Souths supporters, it was the Wombat that started my love for the team.
It was also great being "hated" by all the other kids in 1972 when we beat the Roosters in the Grand Final.
There are heaps of Wombat fans on here and it exemplifies the excitement and man-love we all had for him. I loved how he ran over the opposition rather than around them!

When Fulton left, Wombat was my hero. My teenge highlight was catching one of his kicks for touch when I was sitting on the eastern side of Brookie near the touch line. One of the legends. Speed, power, great ability to chime into the backline. And an old style toe poker as well. Great man. Happy Birthday, Graham.
The last I heard he was working at the Billinugel pub.
